Thanks for the tip. I have snipped the rest of your message for it is a

I did not know about the Preview option in the save window. A point however is
that with Gimp-2.0.1 I see the file size changing but nothing seems to change in

Glad that you liked it & thanks for the Gimp tip. I preferred the Sani Pass trip
but as the acehole who organised the trip rushed us up and down the pass as

it's Linux logo proudly displayed. This image BTW also appeared in the Linux

BTW2 All images on my webpages have received the benefit of Gimp at one stage or

the image.

[Gimp-user] Web background

2004-05-06 Thread Alf C Stockton
I cannot find a way in Gimp 2.0.1 to decrease the file size of an image so that
I can load it as a background in an HTML file and have acceptable load times.

Apparently this can be done in Photoshop under File and save as web page(or
similar). Not being a Photoshop or Windows user I am going on hearsay.

South Africa does not have broadband and making a user spend large amounts of
time downloading is not good and if I can I would like to avoid same but the
background does look pretty so I would like to incorporate it on the page I am
building.

Any suggestions would be gratefully accepted.

I had exactly the same problem until I went into the printer setup and altered
the "PostScript Level 2" to my "Epson C60". Now it prints fine.
Right click in the image and select file->Print and the in Printer Settings
selct "Setup Printer" and select your make and model of printer.
Don't forget to save your settings else it will default back to "PostScript

[Gimp-user] Blending two photos

2003-12-21 Thread Alf C Stockton
I have two photos taken 6 months apart. Both were taken at 07:00 AM, of the
sunrise ie One in the middle of winter and the other in the middle of summer.

Now what I would like to do is combine the two images into one but with one
fading into the other.

At first glance the blend tool should do the trick but as neither image has a
single colour background this, I do not believe, will work.

The secnd approach I took was as laid out in an article by Eric Jeschke in Linux
Journal April 2003 using Layer Masks and adding Filters, however either I am
doing something really silly or this does not work in Gimp 1.3.20.

So, so far I am a little confused.

Any suggestions on how I should attempt this will be gratefully accepted.
