[Gimp-user] A new layer enforced for each text object?
Hi all, I read something in the documentation that says that each text (box?) is automatically placed in a new layer. And that's also what seems to happen in practice. Doesn't sound so great to me. I like being able to have multiple objects in a single layer. So I can show/hide a whole lot of things at once. Also, if you have 50 objects in a pic, do you get 50 layers...???!!! So...in general, does GIMP enforce a policy of one layer per object? IF YES THEN Sounds crazy to me ELSE /* I can have many objects in a single layer */ Great! Now how can I disable this feature of creating text in its own new layer? IF IMPOSSIBLE THEN How at least can I move the text, after creation, to a different layer - i.e., a layer that contains a lot of other texts. Great thanks in advance, - avi ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] apply gradients to the canvas/area , err msg: "Blend does not operate on indexed layers"
Hi all, Once I have finished defining my new gradient how do I apply the gradient to the canvas/area? What do I have to do with the gradient window, if anything? How do I actually apply the new gradient. I have tried using the Fill tool, and that just fills the area with the Foreground color, and I have tried using the Blend Tool, but it tells me Blend does not operate on indexed layers. Am I supposed to be using that operation (Blend)? If so how can make my layer not indexed? ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
[Gimp-user] Replacing colors
Hi all, This is my first time ever to seriously start using GIMP. I am a freelance TW at a new client and I am building a new (one-man) technical writing department around myself. Since budgets in the company are tight (like everywhere now), when I went shopping for apps, I was doing my best to opt for freeware. My first task is to replacing colors in an image - like Find-Replace. First, how do you do a straightforward 'Replace Colors' op? Second: my specific need is to convert a gray gradient to a similar one in a shade of red/pink. Thanks in advance to all, Regards, avraham ~~~~~ Avraham Makeler Freelance Technical Writer ~ ___ Gimp-user mailing list Gimp-user@lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU https://lists.XCF.Berkeley.EDU/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user
