Because it simply isn't scriptable. There is no way to multiselect so there is no way to delete multi selected layers. If I select multiple layers (by, say, ctrl-clicking), I should have the option to drag all of them into the bin. Unless I've missed it somewhere, is there is a script enabling the deletion of multiple layers? None that I know of. Depends on the ratio of layers to delete / layers to keep.
