I think you're dragging by the normal window manager header,
not the gimp dialog header, which is the bar just below it where
the tool options menu button is along with the tool name.
Press and hold in the area to the left of the tool options menu button
(e.g. if it's showing the paintbrush tool,
the tool options menu button is the arrow to the right
 of where it says Paintbrush at the top;
press on the tool name or the blank area to the left of the left arrow
 button)

BTW, once it's back where it belongs,
you can bring up the tool options menu and select lock to tab to
 dock
which should prevent dragging it out in the future.

I am dragging the icon/text that says Tool Options, not the window itself.

That's your problem.
Below the window bar that says Tool Options,
there is another bar-like area that has a left-facing arrow button over
on the right side.
Drag from the empty space somewhere to the left of the button.

[Gimp-user] Python script query

2012-11-13 Thread Grue
I had difficulty getting the [delete] tag to work properly... it
deletes the first two layers and then every second layer after that.

This is because every layer that has an animstack action tag on it is deleted
after processing, this is not something unique to [delete] tag. This is because
tagged layers are basically commands, and after being executed they are not
needed anymore.

I found that by inserting a duplicate layer of Layer 1 and then
changing the name of this to [delete] and then running 'Process
AnimStack Tags' I got the desired result of leaving the first one and
then deleting every second layer in the list after that.

The intended use-case was that a new empty layer is created tagged with [delete]
and placed right before the first layer that is supposed to be deleted. But your
way is fine too.

How do you mean by using a vector, and what by not as dynamic?

 See http://gimp.open-source-solution.org/manual/gimp-tool-path.html

It's not as dynamic because you have to set the path, then switch to the
script, providing the path. It's not like a tool that uses the mouse
 clicks directly.

That would actually work almost quite as well if one can get the script only
to do things at the nodes. Possible?

Gary

I see nothing like that here - below the Toll Options tab with its icon, it
goes directly into the name of the tool, and then the actual options. The left
facing arrow, located directly to the right of the the tab I have been dragging
only activates a menu, and cannot be dragged.

However, after rebooting my computer, dragging the tab that says Tool Options
with the icon (the thing I've been dragging all this time, as the tutorials have
indicated), properly worked; the space highlighted blue, and the tab docked. I
used the left-facing arrow menu to lock the tab to the dock, so hopefully that
will work, considering that before I moved the tab out, it had been locked.

It appears to be some kind of bug, which I will report - for others having this
issue, suggest a computer reboot, it seems to fix whatever was preventing it
from docking to begin with.

You can't... When the ship comes at you, you see the bow but can't see
the stern. when it goes away, you don't see the bow but you see the
stern. How do you make Gimp invent what the stern looks like? The same
applies to the dog.

Maybe you can make a selection around the dog face, and only flip the selected
parts. That should bringt you the desired look into another direction. See
attached files: above is the original image, below a 5min-quickdirty editing. I
have uploaded the xcf-file too - so you can have a look at it!
