[Gimp-user] GIMP canvas white blinks...

2013-06-07 Thread Javi

...frequently when scrolling.

Truly annoying. Lost "racord" when working; never had problems with this
before ubuntu 12.

Running GIMP 2.6.12 over Ubuntu 12.04 with nvidia official drivers.

Thank you for advance

Please upgrade to GIMP 2.8.latest, 2.6 is obsolete and won't see
fixes any longer.

[Gimp-user] Converting jpegs to pngs

2013-06-07 Thread 127markaz

That was it! In checking while saving as a .png, the save transparent pixels was
grayed out. Took the original .jpg and clicked on Layers > Transparency > Add
alpha channel and erased some of the background to confirm. No more
whiteonly transparency. In all these years I suppose I've been lucky with
the many .jpg pics I've rendered because I've never encountered this before.

I can't begin to thank everyone for your rapid responses and helping me learn
something and resolving this perceived "problem".

Again, thank you very much.

Mark

That would be strange, because the JPEG file format has no transparency.

[Gimp-user] Tablet/smartphone app for gimp dashboard via MIDI?

2013-06-07 Thread Dexter Filmore
When I heard about the ability to take commands from MIDI devices the thought
corssed me to abuse a MIDI pad app to use it as a gimp dashboard to have
quick access to your favorite functions, maybe even brush size etc via a
slider.
Turns out I have no idea how set somethign like that up as I know not much
about MIDI and neither what app would be suitable or how to set it up.

Has anybody done something in that direction?
Would a Gimp Dashboard app be possible that way?

That would give one most of the control to the free hand when the other is
used for the stylus or mouse.

*You* have posted here before and *know* this is an *English* language
list. Your other posts were confrontational at the least, are you merely
a trol?

Ok, break extended. His helpfulness is not apparent to me!
