Re: [Gimp-user] What Features you want in GIMP (Crowdfunding)

2013-09-17 Thread Bastian Hougaard
I just wanted to spread the word about freedomsponsors.org in that
regard:
http://freedomsponsors.org/core/issue/?s=&project_id=130&project_name=GIMP
http://freedomsponsors.org/core/issue/?s=&project_id=125&project_name=GEGL+%28the+new+GIMP+engine%29

There are users who have put bounties on several bugs and features - I
think it is a great way for gimp users to show their support for the
voluntary team. The best thing is that anyone who wants to do so can
easily sign up for a bug and do the necessary work to receive the
bounties (provided the solution lives up to people's requirements).

You can also propose to work on a bug/feature there - and you don't really have
to have an account, just sign up through Google/BitBucket/Github/twitter/yahoo.

Just thought I would share.

Regards,
Bastian

My browser auto-remembered email+password when I created my account, but
openinitiative seems to only accept username+password to log in (and
From what I can tell didn't inform that there was a username/password
failure, maybe they should allow both versions or inform that they
don't).

What I'm guessing happened was I accidentally somehow created and saved the path
(*maybe by hitting some keyboard shortcut or something like that), and then I
created multiple copies of the same file to try different editing type stuff and
I assume it was inherited when I copied them...

I seemed to manage to fix the problem by going into input devices, turning
everything to disabled, then re-enabling them one by one and checking it, not
sure what it was, but everything is fixed now.

Hello Oliver,

I haven't seen this bug on my System. But I have two workarounds for you:
1. Flatter all layers and then export to pdf.
2. Use Scribus for adding the text. Scribus has an very good PDF export.

I am aware of this. This is a pretty new platform.
My reasons are that I don't like too much too much centralization,
like everyone using the same services. Also OpenFunding is for Free
Software, so philosophically they are closer to what I do. Finally I
like to give outsiders their chances.
If everyone was just acting only on what is best for himself "now",
well it will bite them later on, when the only companies are the big
ones and choice does not exist anymore.

Of course, if really it was to "hurt" me to do so, I am not masochist,
and in a next crowdfunding attempt, I may go for a more common
platform (a little sad, but I can't kill myself just to be nice to
someone else). But if the only consequence is to get me slightly less
fund (but I still reach my objective), well that's good enough for me.
:-)

Yes I have seen projects collecting huge amount of money. But even
though some actually went somewhere, I also saw many like "disappear"
in nature. I don't say that they had the intent at the beginning, but
maybe they realized the project was too complicated to succeed, or
they got bored of the project, or whatever. But whichever the reason,
the result is same: no deliverables, but still everyone paid. And
there are also a few cases of Free Software who did it (I won't name,
but I'm sure we all have a few names in our head).
That's really uncool.
