Probably any one that works with your system. A fast response time and
pressure sensitivity are good.

I have a 6.5" x 8.5" pad that I picked up at a warehouse sale that works
very well for me. Not too small, not too big. You will be moving your whole
arm across the surface, not just your hand.

Re: [Gimp-user] Error in opening psd files

2016-09-19 Thread Ross Martinek
I think the clipping mask is the problem. Can you go back into PS and remove
the clipping mask in the original file? That might solve the problem.

Other than that, I’m at a loss. Hopefully one of the real gurus will chime in
on this.

More animations?

using Gimp

Get this script, pop into your GImp profile ".\gimp-2.8\scripts"

http://chiselapp.com/user/saulgoode/repository/script-fu/wiki?name=sg-combine-bg

Read the instructions

Make text layer

"Open as layers" the animation (gif) to put on top of the text layer.

Use Filters -> Animation -> Overlay background

Delete the original background layer (if required)

Export the file as a something.gif

Another (even worse) problem: PSD colors seems different from the same file
opened in Photoshop and in GIMP...
Any idea?? :O

Can't stand it any longer.
Remember the basics.
1. If the animation is optimised (it is), un-optimize it
2. Do **not** work in **indexed mode**. Convert the animation to RGB mode.

You got some of it correct. To add a new background, interleave the layers, then
merge each pair down to a layer.
Only 7 layers this time, you could do that manually or use a plugin.

Once you got that working using Gimp to play the animation, (see foxy.xcf.gz)
Now export as an animated gif. Do not try to be clever, set the delay, and use
replace.(see: foxy.gif)
Check that is working
Now you can reopen the gif file and optimise it if required.

Unfortunately even with "Open layers" I get that error :(
The file has been produced with Photoshop, I can open with Gimp but layers are
wrongly shown.
I saw that the problem is with those layers on which in Photoshop has been
created a "clipping mask"...
Any idea? :(

The solution is simple. You have to add the text layer to any single frame
of the original GIF file.

This can be a bit tedious with GIMP, that's why I have a second tool at hand
when it comes to automating procedures: ImageMagick (or GraphicsMagick). The
following one-liner will annotate a text over each frame of an animated gif:

$ convert input.gif -gravity center -fill black -annotate +1+1 "TEXT" output.gif

You can format the text as you need with ImageMagick, see

http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/anim_mods/#annotating

and the other examples.

If you like it better to prepare a annotation frame within GIMP and put it
onto each GIF frame, use this line:

$ convert input.gif -coalesce -draw 'image SrcOver 1,1 0,0 text.png' output.gif

The output.gif isn't optimized (meaning: all full frames). If you can't tolerate
this, you can let ImageMagick re-optimize it before creating an output file.

$ convert input.gif -coalesce -draw 'image SrcOver 1,1 0,0 text.png' -layers
Optimize output.gif

Note that may result in a bit of flicker around the text borders. You can play
with the -layers options to reduce that.

http://www.imagemagick.org/Usage/anim_opt/#overlay

Or just stick with the non-optimized file. That one come without any flicker.

Sorry for not having an easy solution with GIMP, but with ImageMagick (or
GraphicsMagick) it's so damn simple you cannot beat it easily.

Kind regards

Jan
