Re: [Gimp-user] Barely skilled user - How to put a clear layer with test on top of a .gif image

To do what you want you have to add the text (on the very same spot) to all the layers/frames of the animation. There are scripts and plugins to do this, For instance my own interleave-layers script used in "title" mode: http://gimp-tools.sourceforge.net/animationtools.shtml My thanks to everyone who sent possible answers to my question. I tried to implement them as I was reading the Gimp User Manual. I am not a skilled user. I am learning as I go. I had no idea that Python is a way of writing scripts for Gimp. I do not know where to find my Gimp profile. I am not kidding. The user manual does not mention it. [Gimp-user] Color mismatch when an image is printed
opensuse 42.1 linux 4.1.31-30-default x86_64 gimp 2.8.16 Color profile: sRGB Printer Driver description: EPSON PictureMate PM 225 with driver Epson PictureMate PM 225, Epson Inkjet Printer Driver (ESC/P-R) for Linux I have a Epson PM225 inkjet color printer. I have printed images previously with the printer and there was no noticeable difference in color. The printer has been not used for several months. There has likely been some GIMP updates during that time. Currently, when I print an image that has a blue sky, the printed color has a strong green tint to it, not really close to the displayed blue sky at all. Other images have printed similarly with the green tint. I have tried changing ink cartridges. No difference. The online manual mentions that the display uses RGB while printing is CMYK. It does not discuss what to do there is a mismatch between the two. Any suggestions about what may be done to correct the color issue? -- James Moe moe dot james at sohnen-moe dot com 520.743.3936 Think. signature.asc Description: OpenPGP digital signature ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list

Re: [Gimp-user] Insert Image- Not merge
On 20/09/16 07:03, kevspass wrote: Hi All, I have just started using Gimp and see that it can do almost anything(!?) However, can someone please tell me how to do the following? I have a very long horizontal image (single line of music notation). I need to space all the bar lines up at equal distances apart. I am using the grid to guide me. I therefore need to 'stretch' part of the image by copying a section and pasting it at another point. However, I can only seem to get it to merge the copied section over the top. I want to 'cut' the main image and insert the piece thus making the width if the entire image longer. Is this possible? Or is there a way to select a cross section (from top to bottom) and stretch it sideways- also moving the rest of the image along? I hope that all makes sense . Any advice is appreciated. To open a gap: 1) duplicate the image (so that you have two layers) 2) Image>Canvas size and set the new width 3) Using the move tool, drag a layer to the right of the image. Using "Image>View>Snap to canvas edges" can make is a bit easier 4) erase the right part of the layer on the left, and the left part of the layer on the right. To fill the gap with white, add a new layer fill it will white, and move it to the bottom of the layer stack. Warning: stretching images cause Gimp to interpolate pixels. This is very visible on sharp edges such as the ones you find in text, or music. A vector-based image editor such as Inkscape may be better suited for the task. ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
