[Gimp-user] image fit-to-window on open?

2017-04-08 Thread Casey Connor

I am surprised that I can't seem to google this, but:

How can I have GIMP fit the image to the window when it opens it?

Prefs -> Image Windows -> Initial zoom ration: "Show entire image" is
selected, but neither shows the entire image nor fits it to the window.
My camera images open at 25% zoom, which results cropping off the top
and bottom of the window, and requiring a ctrl-shift-J on every opened
image to be able to see it all.

(This is with 2.9.5, but it's been this way as long as I recall.)

Thanks!

[Gimp-user] Making large prints

You want "tiling" which I presume your printer doesn't do.
- Make your 16" x 20" print and cut it up into four 8x10 rectangles, maybe
with a little overlap.
- Save each 1/4 in a new file. One for each.
- Print each of the 1/4's, cut off the margins and then tape them together.

Hello Folks, Downloaded this program , and I think it is an excellent
program.
Never done much editing before, so im kinda lost.
Been reading through the manuals and cannot seem to find how to make large
prints.
Im wanting to make a print that is bigger than my printer can make.
knowing that , i know there is a way to print a large print and then piece
it
together.
Im wanting to make a print that is the same size as my canvas that im
painting
on.
I like to paint from photos, and i like my photos to be the same size as my
canvas
My canvas that im painting on is 20 by 16, so I like for my photos that i
paint
from to be the same size.
My printer of course is not a 24 inch printer, it is just a all in one Hp
printer. And can only print *8.5 by 11.5.
I know that you can print several pieces of a photo and then piece it
together
as one photo with tape or glue.
So i will print several different images of a photo and then piece it
together
as one , to paint from..

Can someone help a fellow out?
Thx
RobertC

[Gimp-user] Trying to sharpen an image

2017-04-08 Thread acctingman
I'm trying a quick way, hopefully, to sharpen a png file I have. Is there a
tutorial on how to do this?

It's an image of a collectible card game but the image is a little blurry.

If it's overly complicated to do this in GIMP can someone be so kind as to offer
any other suggestions on how I can sharpen my image?

I've attached the file in question

Thank you
