In the preferences there are several tick boxes under Image import and Export.

What state are your tick box in for exif data?

Re: [Gimp-user] No text input in file open dialog

2018-08-29 Thread Richard via gimp-user-list
Instead of using drag-and-drop from Windows Explorer, consider right-clicking
and checking out your context menu. There's usually a command called "Open
With..." that allows you to select a program for it (internally, it mostly just
executes a shell command of appname /path/to/file ). Depending on the file and
your access level, you may also be able to register the desired application as
the default handler for that filetype so you can simply double-click the file
in the future.

Subject: [Gimp-user] No text input in file open dialog

Working in Windows 10, I often select a file in Explorer, copy the file's
path to the clipboard and paste it into the file open dialog of an
application. I find it easier to navigate in Explorer than in file open
dialogs.

In the Gimp file open dialog, there is not text input, so I cannot paste a
file name. Why is this so?

Yes, there is drag'n'drop, but often I prefer text input. And you have to
drop files onto the tool bar, dropping on the image preview bar on the top
does not work, which I'd find more intuitive.

Thanks, Juergen

[Gimp-user] Pentax Exif data stripped

2018-08-29 Thread CeeCee
Since installing 2.10.0 (and also 2.10.6) when I export a Pentax file (as a
jpeg) the exif data is lost. Canon, Nikon & Sony files work fine. I'm using
Windows 10 and I have tried this on 2 different PCs. Gimp 2.8 and previous
versions had no issues with Pentax files. Has anyone come across this ?

[Gimp-user] creating a keyboard shortcut to a filter

2018-08-29 Thread programmer_ceds
Does it not appear in "Edit/Keyboard Shortcuts" scroll down to "Filters"? Note
that the filters don't appear in alphabetical order. If you find it there
left-click on it and press the key or key combination that you want to use to
activate it.

[Gimp-user] Gimp 2.10.0 Graphics Problem

2018-08-29 Thread srt252
Hey guys, I'm a new user but I'm having a weird problem with GIMP that is making
it pretty much unusable. It works fine on my other computer but on my laptop
whenever I select anything the whole selection perimeter fills up black slowly.
Hard to describe so here's a video: https://youtu.be/AeLLatF4cTY

My laptop screen is 4k and I have some scaling compatibility options on, only
thing I can think of that's difference between my laptop and other computer. Any
thoughts on how to fix this?

Thanks

[Gimp-user] File open drop area

2018-08-29 Thread Jürgen Weber
To open a file via drag n drop, for the first file you can drop onto the
empty image area. For all further images I'd expect that you can drop in
the area above the main image where image previews are shown. Actually the
mouse pointer changes to have + in that area, but the image is not loaded.
You have to drop onto the tool area, which I do not find intuitive.

(2.10.6 win64)

Maybe this could be changed, what do you think?

Hi Liam, thanks for the hint. Looks like in 2.10.6 <2106> Windows the file
open dialog is different, no buttons and no ctrl-L

Ed,

Although I’m sure that they’re unintentional, your post contains
inconsistencies. They must be rectified before any help can be attempted.

What does “no problems” mean?
If there are “no problems” why do you say that “there isn’t any application
that installs”

If “there isn’t any application that installs” how can you even “open GIMP”?

Take us through your specific steps, Ed. Perhaps then somebody can provide some
assistance.
