Is this intentional or am I missing something?

Lamb Design.

This is standard behavior. There is no "object selector" tool, object
selection is a side effect of the Move tool, that will pick the topmost
non-transparent layer where you click. But since there are many cases
where one of the topmost layers covers the whole canvas and is at least
partially opaque, this method is not always usable. You can always
select objects by clicking on them in the Layers list.

[Gimp-user] cant move selection under layer

2020-02-10 Thread tjohansen

dont know what I have activated.

but I have a semi transparent wireframe layer ontop of other layers.

normally I select a region in a underlying layers, cut it at paste it, then I
can move it around.

But now I cant as long as there is a visible layer ontop.
now when I cut and paste it, I cant move afterwards.

If I hide the layer in top I can move the selection. Why???
and how to change it back.

[Gimp-user] Resizing an image in Gimp is very slow.

2020-02-10 Thread CharlesJ-J
I often have an image size of up to 5000 x 4000 px and maybe 50 or more undo
history. There is often 10 - 15 layers, but I have then flattened the whole lot.
When I go to resize it (to 1800 x 1200 px) Gimp is VERY slow. The progress bar
will move quickly to ,say, 2/3 of the way, then stop for sometimes up to 3 or 4
minutes. I have 10.4 Gimp. I have tried deleting the undo history, but with no
difference. If I have a saved XCF file, I have tried closing my image, then
reloading it. When Gimp is stalled, it uses high CPU but not disc. Then the
resizing process is fast. Have you any idea why this happens & how to solve it?
