[Gimp-user] Text size editing issues with GIMP
I've noticed this behavior recently with GIMP. It did not use to do this (at least not that I've noticed) in versions prior to 2.8.I use A LOT of text in several images I'm creating. If I have a text object in an image and set the text size to say 38 points (specific size doesn't matter).I've noticed that on an increasing number of images that if I later try to go back and edit that text (after saving and later reopening the image) the size of the text is suddenly changed to a huge value, eg 120 points. It's strange, because all other aspects of the text remain intact (color, bold, underline, etc).In addition if a text object has multiple text sizes, the relationship between the sizes remains the same. eg 4 letters are 38 points, and 5 letters are 40 points, the new sizes will change to something like 120 and 122 respectively. Also the size doesn't always get bigger, sometimes it's changed to a tiny size like 1 point! In the interim the text displayed, however, is the correct size, until you try to edit the text. And even then, the displayed text remains correct until you try to type in new text. At which point the text suddenly all jumps to this new wrong size. And this behavior is not affected by Undo. Meaning that after it does this, undo will NOT return the text to its original intended size. This is happening on a whole bunch of my images, including ones I know I've edited before. This is also happening with new images that I later try to edit, along with my older images. There doesn't appear to be a consistent pattern with why it's happening, as other text retains it original size.It also doesn't appear related to a particular font. Restarting the computer or GIMP changes nothing.I'm currently using GIMP 2.8.20 on Windows 7.I've attempted to update GIMP to resolve and the updates don't have any effect on this. ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list

[Gimp-user] Undesirable File/Open Behavior
OK, so I’ve noticed what seems to be a bug in GIMP. I’vegotten it to do this three times now. I’ll post it in a more appropriate location, once I confirmI’m not crazy. If I have a gimp session open, and have been working in itfor a while, I’ve noticed that if I double-click on an XCF file, to open it;GIMP dumps my existing open session, with NO warning whatsoever, and reopensanew, with the requested image. Any (unsaved) work done in the previous session simply…vanishes. Subsequent attempts to open other XCF files from that pointon, just open a new window, as expected; in the same session. I’m not sure what it takes to trigger the other less desirable…let’s call it ambitious open/file process, other than time. After it does this…thing, I can open and close GIMP repeatedly and it works as one would expect –openinga new window in the same session. But for some reason, after a session has beenopen for a while (think days), clicking an XCF file to open it, causes theexisting GIMP session to abort/abend/awhig-out? This is 2.8.14 on a Windoze 7 machine. Thoughts? ___ gimp-user-list mailing list List address:gimp-user-list@gnome.org List membership: https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gimp-user-list List archives: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gimp-user-list
[Gimp-user] Comments on GIMP
I'm not certain if this is the right place for this, but here goes, A few weeks ago I was on a mission to find a simple, yet effective, image editing program for a project I'm working on.After several frustrating experiences with a bunch of 'complete duds' and 'nice trys', I finally came across the GIMP. Within a few minutes of using GIMP, my reaction was simply WOW! Over the few weeks since I've been using it, that reaction has only continued to flourish and expand. In every step, so far, I've found GIMP to be unbelievably intuitive, logical, stable, capable, powerful, and simply brilliant to use.It is far and away one of the best programs I've ever used, not only as a graphics program but period! For every function that I thought "Hmm, it'd be nice if ...", within a few seconds/minutes of poking around on the hyper-intuitive interface; I've not only found exactly what I was looking for, but something-like a dozen other ways to expand upon what I was looking for. Rarely do I find this level of... maturity in a program and for a program that is released for free none-the-less, I'm simply blown away!!I'm not exaggerating when I say that on a practically daily basis, that I've used GIMP, I find myself saying "I really love this program". I'm sure you hear things like this fairly regularly, but I still wanted to send this email to give a HUGE shout-out to the developers, contributors, and all involved with making this such a kick-a## product! Kudos and THANK YOU!!!
