Russ,
This is a piece of the Gitorious infrastructure that makes scaling
difficult. Since the app server currently needs physical access to the
repositories it's impossible to add more app servers, or use a different
host for the repositories.

We are working on abstracting the git repositories, we really need this
feature on Gitorious.org. Our current plan is to use an RPC interface
between the host where the repositories reside and the app server.

I can't promise when it will be ready though.

Cheers,
- Marius

[gitorious] Does Gitorious work with remote git repositories?

2010-09-02 Thread rjurney
We had trouble installing Gitorious on our Solaris git server. We
would like to run Gitorious on a Linux Server that is independent of
the git server.

Is this possible? I can't find anything on this in the documentation.

Thanks,
Russ
