OK, I put in the regexp and it seems to be working. The test case from above:

https://www.gluster.org/2013/09/git-reincarnating-remote-master-branch-so-you-can-easily-pr-to-upstream/

redirects to:

http://www.gluster.org/git-reincarnating-remote-master-branch-so-you-can-easily-pr-to-upstream/

No 404 error.

Also, nothing else seems to be broken more than it was before. :) I.e.
www.gluster.org and the blog articles still work.

At this point, it's the biggest issues we have on the website. Karsten, go
ahead and test it in the WP site and we'll see if that cuts down the level of
404s we're getting. 
Let's give it 4 hours and review at that time, 4pm Pacific time.

[Gluster-infra] Managing WordPress instance

Hi folks, I don't usually post on this list, but as I've been helping
Amye a small bit on the administration of the WordPress instance
underneath www.gluster.org, I'm hopping in here to discuss sort-of rules
of engagement for that WP instance.

Amye -- I'm a dabbler in WordPress administration; I've installed,
configured, modified styles, and run a handful of WP based sites over
the years. I know enough to get into trouble, and sometimes can get
myself out of trouble.

Of the Community Infrastructure team[1], I probably have the most WP
experience. While none of us were comfortable with maintaining a managed
WP instance, I think I'm capable of helping with the instance WPEngine
is maintaining on the backend. I'd be happy to do whatever we can to
help maintain this instance, with the caveat that there may be points
were we throw up our hands in despair and cry out for help. If you can
have patience and help us through those times, things may work out OK. :)

What are your thoughts about how you'd like to handle this WP instance
from here?

I know of one open issue[2] about the redirects, if I'm missing another
one please put me in the Cc: for it.

I think these can be worked in parallel. Let's test Michael's solution for the
redirect issue. For who and how, unfortunately we don't yet have in place rules
of engagement around the WordPress instance.

I'll start an email to discuss admin on the WP instance.

In the other ticket we can resolve who tests what, where, and get that whole
thing taken care of.

For security concerns, it seems prudent to take care of them ASAP, also
considering that Michael's involvement in the other bug is lightweight in
providing us regexp solutions to test. Would you be OK with working these in
parallel?

I don't know how we can test the redirect on staging not having set it all up,
it just seemed like a better idea than testing on production.

That said, we can do was we did previously -- test the regexp on production,
and revert if it doesn't work, then return to Michael for more help if there is
a problem with his regexp.

Do you want me to run this test? We don't have 'rules of engagement' around the
WordPress instance, so I'm not doing anything without coordination first.

causing an existing user impact, this can come after that ticket's resolved.

Description of problem:

Today, yet another rowhammer style attack paper went out, explaining 
https://arxiv.org/pdf/1710.00551.pdf (there is a link to the various papers)

While this is not a new attack, and I guess a rather complex one to mount, we
should mitigate the risk by moving the download server and the ansible
deployment in the cage. I heard about people using rowhammer to flip some bits
to bypass pam verification (no paper or conference have been published yet
afaik, so i wasn't able to evaluate the praticality). 

While rackspace is using ECC (or so do I hope, that's what lshw report) and
that's mitigating the attack to be a denial of service only, I would sleep
better at night if we moved the 2 servers out of rackspace and in the cage in
case improvements to the attack do get published.

The rest of the VM are not as critical as theses 2, even if the freeipa server
should also be moved.

I am already in the process of moving salt-master since some weeks, I just need
to finish the move.

The VM seems to be down, I was able to get a prompt, but nothing more. That's
usually the sign of some overload, like fork bomb, lack of memory, etc.

A post mortem analysis show this was down since 11h40 (UTC) on the 2 of
october, and that the problem was likely lack of memory (cf OOM in dmesg).

I did restart the VM to solve the issue, but we may need to 1) add swap 2) add
memory.
