You have marked your membership of the Gluster organization as 'private'. Maybe
this is the reason others can not easily find you. Can you move that to
'public' and have someone test it out?

Every release rebase would be ideal.

All the changes planned for a particular release. I think glusterfs release 5
has some API changes planned (that got pushed from 4.1 plan). When all those
API changes are in, we can make libgfapi-python rebase to those changes.

I guess that is not an ideal thing to do. Either we have to keep the goal as
every release rebase, or consumer (in this case, libgfapi-python) will mandate
the version they are compatible. So, even if you run on master, it should fail,
because it is not the version one needs.

There will be no chance of knowing when we will have 'all the changes'
completed.

Most likely, no it's not. I'll try it out and confirm though. I'm waiting for
all API changes in glusterfs to finish so that I can do the corresponding
changes in libgfapi-python all at once.

2018-07-13 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1600963

There are several bugs of the same nature #1576161 and #1570576.

I am thinking that we need a generic request/action to post failure onto gerrit
itself, rather than having to goto Jenkins.

Now, this may help for some cases, and in some other (possibly cores etc.)
contributors would need to get to Jenkins, which is fine, but reduces the need
to visit Jenkins.

This helps the people to notice the failures in gerrit, without going out to

and you just reply to that without changing anything.

Lets see if Bugzilla can create a link for it:

# Description of problem:

Today, there is no validation for 'shell' scripts (present in the form of
executable binary, files ending with `.sh`, or files ending with `.sh.in`).

Ideally, if any shell script files gets modified in the patch, that particular
shell script should pass 'shellcheck' test. This should be a voting job.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1584992] Need python pep8 and other relevant tests in smoke if a patch includes any python file

2018-07-03 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1584992

So re: python3 validation. I ran pylint --py3k across the codebase today and it
showed me zero errors. However, running 2to3 for our python files shows me a
lot of dict.iteritems() which should be dict.items() in python3 (Kaleb has a
patch to fix them already). This still doesn't catch more subtler bugs like
python's division operator changing behavior in python3

python2
5 / 2 = 2

python3
5 / 2 = 2.5

2to3 doesn't catch this change. In essence, we can add automation, but we
warned that the automation passing does not actually mean that we're 100% in
the clear with regard to python3 support. That will need some in-depth testing
and there's no way around that.

We should start failing smoke on commits that use closed github issues.

Once closed, an issue is assumed to be done, and hence future commits are
really bug fixes or further enhancements and should be called out as such, than
using the same issue to pound in more commits.

I've removed the keys for the gluster-block repo so Gerrit cannot push to
Github anymore. Prasanna has now pushed the copy he has locally onto Github.

I've modified the Gerrit replication config so that it doesn't have this change
anymore. I'll wait until tomorrow morning when we can do a restart in the early
hours of morning IST.

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1596595] gluster-block: recover master branch

2018-06-29 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1596595

The pointers to something like this happening is someone doing a force push the
repo. Given the tip commit was from Prasanna, it didn't seem like someone did a
force push.

The hint came from the last commit having a Change-Id. I checked
git.gluster.org repo history for the old gluster-block repo. The last commit on
the Gerrit repo is the last commit on Github. This means that at some point
Gerrit pushed to the Github repo.

Given the repo is marked as read only on Gerrit, the only chance of this
happening is when I restarted Gerrit on 2018-06-19. I checked the logs for this
date:

Kaleb is doing this correctly as per Fedora packaging guidelines (see
https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Packaging:Python). You cannot simply use python
anymore. You have to specify python2 or python3 including in the shebang for
all scripts. This is going to cause interesting problems for the EL6/EL7 world.

The only way I can see this work is if we make sure we're compatible with
python3 with tooling, but actually run all our stuff on python2 until such a
time that there is an EL7 which ships python3 packages in base.

While installing python3 isn't a problem, getting that working for el7/el6

does not have appropriate amount of python3 support without using SCL or EPEL.

Static code analysis can run on VMs even, but I'm glad to see where are good

As for agreeing - let's go with small, incremental wins - we can get in
whatever everyone (or majority) seem to agree with, and incrementally add more

We were blocked on Fedora builders. We procured them 2 weeks ago and they've
had some time to settle in. Infra-wise, we're nearly ready to go. I have a job
half complete. I'll try to get the Jenkins job complete this week. Then it's
waiting on us agreeing on the exact config file on
https://github.com/nigelbabu/clang-format-sample that needs to be then checked
in and used in the Jenkins jobs.

So after some fix all around, they should be ready. i am just finishing the
deployment and will reboot them one last time for the kernel, ipv6, selinux,
etc.

So they should be ready by 17h UTC if all go well.

This will also be needed for future Fedora builds. We cannot build 28 and above

[Gluster-infra] [Bug 1591276] New: Automated way to run coverity runs on project every week.

2018-06-14 Thread bugzilla
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1591276

Bug ID: 1591276
Summary: Automated way to run coverity runs on project every
week.
   Product: GlusterFS
   Version: mainline
 Component: project-infrastructure
  Severity: high
  Priority: high
  Assignee: b...@gluster.org
  Reporter: atumb...@redhat.com
CC: amukh...@redhat.com, b...@gluster.org,
gluster-infra@gluster.org, j...@pl.atyp.us,
kkeit...@redhat.com, srang...@redhat.com

# Description of problem:

Today, we do have a coverity run which happens on the master branch with
internal Red Hat coverity license, but we can't get a dashboard for the
coverity, which is very critical for us to measure which new issues are getting
introduced, what is the rate of fixing of bugs, and what are the severity of
the issues etc.

Hence, we are requesting a way to run our project in scan.coverity.com (Ref:
https://scan.coverity.com/projects/gluster-glusterfs?tab=overview )

The issue here is, we need to keep uploading our code here ourselves (well, we
can automate this process, and hence the bug).

# Additional info:

Build with every possible flag, so it covers maximum code.
Frequency of scan be once in a week.

Let us know what more is needed.

You have an invite now. You're not on the org, so you have to manually accept
the invite. This should give you admin privileges on the repo.

pep8 issues can be fixed by using `autopep8` tool, I will work on it and send
patch.

pylint gives lot of warnings related to variable naming style, we can ignore
those errors. Also pylint errors are mostly about best practices and code
suggestions. I feel we should defer pylint voting since it involves lot of code
changes.

We can use `flake8` for now to validate pep8, unused variables, imports etc.

This is not an infra bug. I recommend trying to reproduce on a clean setup
again with your patch. This can be consistently hit on a clean machine.

Yes agree, the 2 week (or time based) reminder still applies.

My thoughts:

Let's not do it after 2 weeks, let it happen as the review is posted.

Also, let's add MAINTAINERS as per their areas of responsibility, that way a
patch does not get 20 reviewers, but rather 2-4 reviewers as the case maybe.

It's not worth running a CI unless we can fix them or tweak the config so we
