[Gluster-users] Memory and CPU

2020-03-20 Thread Olivier
Hello,

I am running a small Gluster environment with only 4 nodes. And am
wondering how my gluster machines should be sized: they are 2CPU and 4GB
RAM, but as soon as I connect a client to NFS Ganesha it will start
swapping like crazy and soon Ganesha will die.

I have been running an NFS server with less than 4GB RAM and 5 or 6
clients for years without issue.

Is there a way I can configure both gluster and ganesha to be less
voracious with RAM?

TIA,

Olivier

[Gluster-users] Gluster datacenter internet link was down

2020-03-20 Thread Michael Scherer
Hi,

it seems that the datacenter (RDU2) where we host most of the infra did
lose internet connection for around 1h (from 12h50 UTC to 14h00 UTC).
While I followed IT efforts, I suspect they did hit a bug while doing a
routine change.

Most of the infra was affected (mail, review, jenkins, download).

All is back in order now, but I suspect the jenkins jobs failed since
the main server lost internet.

[Gluster-users] Geo-Replication - Does not finish syncing - Codification Error

2020-03-20 Thread Senén Vidal Blanco
Hi,
I am having a problem syncing two volumes using Geo-Replication.
The entire certification and activation process works correctly. But when
synchronization starts it stays almost at the beginning of the first files and
never ends the job.

Checking the Glusterfs logs I find this error:

[2020-03-19 15:55:15.60848] E [syncdutils(worker /brickarchivos/archivos):

UnicodeEncodeError: 'utf-8' codec can't encode character '\udcba' in position
115: surrogates not allowed

Searching the internet a bit I have found that the error is due to a character
encoding problem. The typical diamond with the question mark.
I have had to perform a conversion of the files with this utility.

convmv -r -f cp1252 -t utf-8 /folder_of_share/ --notest

Now this is a temporary fix, since it does not guarantee that in the future
someone will copy another file or folder with a different format than utf-8 and
find that it stops synchronizing the rest of the contents to the slave.

Does anyone know how this problem can be corrected?

Thank you.
