Re: [Gluster-users] Gluster Test Matrix

2013-06-24 Thread John Walker
Hi Ryan,

I'm going to bet no. I think you're the first Debian/Ubuntu user to really give
the test framework a workout.

If you can give some details about what fails, however, I bet we can help you.

Ryan Aydelott wrote:

All;

I'm having some issues getting some of the tests working under a Debian based
distro from git://forge.gluster.org/glusterfs-core/glusterfs.git
 /tests.

It would appear that there are quite of the test cases that are simply relying
on locations, package managers, etc - that are not present in distributions
that are not based in RHEL.

Has anybody gone through and cleaned some of this up for the Debian gluster
folks out there?

Thanks!

Re: [Gluster-users] Help needed - Lots of RDMA changes in git repo, please test!

2013-05-20 Thread John Walker
I would check to see if they've been merged into the 3.4 branch, because that's
a major point of emphasis for this release.

Hi all,

Some really large patch sets for improving RDMA (Infiniband) have been
merged into GlusterFS's git repo (master branch) over the last few days.

If you're a user of Infiniband and have some time to build the packages
from source (it's easy) then test stuff out, that would be really, really
welcome. :)

Anyone up for the challenge? :)

Note - For Fedora/RHEL/CentOS users, package building instructions are
here (takes less than 10 mins, completely cut-n-paste steps):

Please submit the patch while we're in the pre-3.3.2 cycle. The worst that can
happen is that the devs write their own.

Maybe I was wrong. I just did a diff and looks like the fix is not
in 3.3.1. This is the patch I applied to my 3.3.0 build. I didn't
fix the the check for inodes though. If you look at the code, max is
 defined as 0.

A really nice read and goes into some depth, including the follow-up questions.
