Re: [Gluster-users] Trouble rolling back to 3.7.11 on Ubuntu

2016-07-20 Thread tommy.yard...@baesystems.com
Hi Niels,

I'm installing from source as there is only PPAs for the latest minor version
for each major version.

The issue we were facing was introduced by either 3.7.12/13 so I am trying to
roll back to 3.7.11 instead of back to 3.6.9.

As you can see https://launchpad.net/~gluster/+archive/ubuntu/glusterfs-3.7
only has 3.7.13 there.

Thanks,
Tommy

Is there a reason you want to install from source? We do have several PPAs for
Ubuntu with different Gluster versions:
  https://launchpad.net/~gluster

If those packages are not suitable for you (and possibly others), we would like
to know about that.

Thanks,
Niels

Lindsay,

I was building from source, I've just realised my script was cleaning up
liburcu after building and installing that again seems to have fixed my problem.

Do you know the list of packages that are required to run glusterd (as opposed
to building it) so I can cleanup some unneeded packages?

Thanks,
Tommy

I'm assuming you already have liburcu >= 0.7 installed, because it is needed to
build gluster.
How did you install it? Was it via source or a package?
Could you also run a `ldd` on the glusterd xlator and give the results? The
command should be `ldd /usr/lib/glusterfs/3.7.11/xlator/mgmt/glusterd.so`.

Hi Atin,

Appreciate you getting back to me.

After cleaning installing a box with Ubuntu and trying build from source I am
always shown the error in the previous post.

As you can see no other gluster processes are running so there should be no
conflicts there:
```
root@ip-172-31-169-210:/var/log/glusterfs# ps -ef | grep -i glust
root 12990 10419  0 07:57 pts/200:00:00 grep --color=auto -i glust
root@ip-172-31-169-210:/var/log/glusterfs# service glusterd restart
* Stopping glusterd service glusterd
   [ OK ]
* Starting glusterd service glusterd
   [fail]
/usr/local/sbin/glusterd: option requires an argument -- 'f'
Try `glusterd --help' or `glusterd --usage' for more information.
```

In usr-local-etc-glusterfs-glusterd.vol.log:

Any ideas on whats wrong? ``` liburcu-bp.so.1: cannot open shared object file:
No such file or directory ``` looks like an error I saw on the mailing list
previously which suggested running ``` ldconfig``` which I have – doesn’t seem
to fix things.

Many thanks,
Tommy

However, the ppa repository only holds the package for 3.7.13 so I’m trying to

I’m hitting various problems such as glusterd not starting:
Looking at glusterd log file may give you some clue.

My real question here is what’s the quickest way to roll back to 3.7.11 as I’m
