The normal procedure is to hold your finger down on the app. You'll then see 'Uninstall' appear on the top, to which you then drag the app. Alternatively, through Settings>Apps. The Google apps e.g. Hangouts cannot be uninstalled, but there should be a disable button there. -- Marko -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Gmail-Users" group. Re: [Gmail-Users] Texters Beware!
Diane, I am sure I will print out those codes one day if I am traveling or something. What is nice about the authenticator app over a text message is the authenticator app does not rely on cell service or data service on the phone. It is a standalone app that randomly creates codes for me based on my Google account. If I am in a bad cell service area I might not get a text message and I might not have printed out the code sheet. I always have my phone with me and as long as the phone has battery power, I can always get a code. Just a personal preference. How do you find apps like that? Just curious, nothing more. I marvel at what other people know! Re: [Gmail-Users] Texters Beware!
I have no idea what the "Authenticator app" is and don''t think I want to know, Jeff, if you can recall everything I went through regarding 2SV before I got the smartphone. Why do you use that instead of, for ex., printing out verif. codes that are sent you by Google when you opt for them? *~Diane* On Sun, Sep 6, 2015 at 8:20 AM, Jeff Grossmanwrote: > That's good to know. Re: [Gmail-Users] Texters Beware!
That's good to know. It doesn't surprise me that they have started using that method to gain access to people's Google accounts. I am setup to use the Authenticator app when getting codes for 2-step authentication so Google does not send me text messages with verification codes.
