Hello Jahan,

in WindowsXP, to set an environment variable, go to control panel (select 
classic view on the left pane), then select "System" icon.. Select "Advanced 
Options Tab", then select "Environment Variables" in the bottom.

can set up a global environment variable somewhere in your control
panel, but can't really tell you how.

setenv is cshell (csh/tcsh). Are you by chance running in bash shell? Then you should use export DSSP=/path/dssp

You need to have DSSP installed and to know where it is and to set up
whatever environment variables do_dssp requires. If I recall correctly,
setenv only works for tcsh, you appear to be using another shell, probably
bash. Either change shells or find out the correct command to set an
environment variable.

with gromacs, but you can download it separately from:

http://swift.cmbi.ru.nl/gv/dssp/

Secondly, if 'setenv' is not working you are not on a csh/tcsh shell. Try:

export DSSP=/path_to_your_dssp_installation/dssp

This should work if you are on a sh/bash shell.
