Portsentry
Just curious if anyone here might know... Has there been any work on anything like portsentry lately? The sourceforge page shows the last release 3 years ago Brian ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/

I started with a debian install on it then modified things until writes to rootfs were completely eliminted under normal operation to save the CF from failure. For around $65-70 per month you can get an actual dedicated server (CentOS, I believe) through theplanet.com ...again too pricey, or I'd have mentioned it earlier. If he/you know a couple of other guys who are interested you could split one among the three of you... I've been doing some administration work for a friend of mine who has a couple of Verio's Virtual Private Servers, and so far we've been pretty happy with them. They give you what appears to be a jailed FreeBSD environment, and you can do pretty much anything you like with it. They have a web interface for managing users, email, and web hosting, if you want to do things their way, or you can just roll your own. Price is in the $90/mo+ range, so it's probably not what your friend is looking for. If you find someplace similar with a lower rate, I'd be interested to know about it, been looking for something similar for myself. http://www.verio.com/virtual-server/ -- Chip Marshall <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> http://kyzoku.2bithacker.net/ GCM/IT d+(-) s+:++ a25>? Redhat's GFS - a question
Hi folks,I'm trying to wrap my head around GFS and there seems to be something I'm not getting. Figure 1 on this page: http://www.redhat.com/magazine/008jun05/features/gfs_nfs/ seems to be missing a layer. Virtual Hosting recommendations?
I've got a friend looking to move his site to a virtual hosting environment. His reasons are that he wants more fine-grained control over his Apache configuration than he gets with mass hosting setups, but he's otherwise not too familiar with general system administration or mail administration. I think his ideal environment would be one where the web server was in hist control, but as an option at least, the hosting company could act as his MX for spam filtering, POP/IMAP access, etc and allow him a web interface to manage those details. Does anyone know of a setup like this anywhere or what you'd expect it to cost? He's really only looking to spend $20-25/month. Thanks for any advice, -N ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/
