keepassx
I just bought a Chromebook. Its a good computer for my needs, a tablet with a keyboard. However, I have one major disappointment. I have used Keepass and KeepassX for years to manage my passwords. Chrome has an app called Keepass Chrome, but I have been unsuccessful in getting this Chrome app to read the old .kdb file. You would think with a name like that it would be able to input the old database file. I would appreciate any suggestions. Google searches have turned up nothing, Thank you for listening to my problem. Chromcast
I'm running Ubuntu 12.4 on a dual boot laptop. I have a Chromcast dongle on my TV. I am unable to cast to it. I must switch to Windows Vista on this computer to cast. It is the only time I ever boot to Windows, which is very slw. Has anybody been able to cast to Chromcast from Ubuntu? The technicians at Google have been no help. I don't remember seeing this topic on this forum. Thanks, Karl Hergenrother ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/
computer repair
I thought of removing the cover, but it is not obvious how. I turned it on its back and saw many small screws. Most marked F5 and a few marked F10. I removed the F5s and the cover did not move. I chickened out and replaced the screws. One doesn't want to break the wife's computer. Since I started this note, I discovered this reference. You can find almost anything on the Internet It appears from the pictures that the power socket is mounted directly to the motherboard. It might be a difficult repair. http://www.irisvista.com/tech/ Karl ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/
Computer repair shop
My wife's 3 year old Toshiba Satellite laptop has had intermittent charging problems. I have replaced its battery, but that didn't help. Right now it will not charge at all. I'm fairly sure that the problem is in the socket on the computer which accepts the charger plug. Those things must take a beating over the years. Can someone suggest a good repair shop on the Nashua/Lowell area? Thanks, Karl ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss/

But seriously, why would a no OS/software system cost more than the Xandros system with OpenOffice and other software loaded. Marketing I guess. Thanks for all the advice. Walmart-Xandors
Has anyone have any experience with, or comment about the Microtel Xandros Linux computers offered by Walmart. These computers aren't very powerful by today's standards, but for a straight vanilla desktop with Linux and OpenOffice perloaded, I haven't seen a better bargain. I need to replace my 200 MHz Pentium II. http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.gsp?product_id=3380786 Karl ___ gnhlug-discuss mailing list gnhlug-discuss@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-discuss
