In addition in grub there is a timeout field that you can set. In
original grub you could edit /boot/grub/grub.conf. In grub2 it is in
/etc/default/grub.
GRUB_TIMEOUT=5
You then need to run grub-mkconfig to rewrite /boot/grub2/grub.cfg.
