Someone mentioned in passing that 8.0 would be out very soon, so I took 
a look at ftp.redhat.com and saw that the 8.0 directory exists, chmod'ed
as 700. In the past, the release came very soon after the directory 
appeared, presumably after the official mirrors had been given enough time
to mirror the new release. 

So I expect to see the release very soon, long before the BLU Installfest 
which is scheduled for October 26.

   Selections from the release notes that I _definately_ didn't download 
from a mirror site that leaked the distro early:

* A new installation type called Personal Desktop is available
  Workstation installation type has been redesigned for ... software 
  development or system administration
* It is now possible to specify the boot order of your drives (during 
  installation)
* The installation program automatically configures a USB mouse ... 
  whenever a USB mouse is inserted, it will be functional
* It is now possible to install from an FireWire(TM) CD-ROM

* The OpenOffice.org office suite is now included

* contains the following new configuration and system tools: log viewer, 
  nfs config, x config, sound card config, language selection, package 
  management

   These are just the points that I've actually experienced during the
beta testing.  There are a lot of other changes, for better or worse.  
Overall it looks very nice based on the late stages of the beta cycle.
   The official release is (according to almost every source) 30 Sep, or 
in about 23 hours.
