I had some issues over the summer with one server I have in their
Virginia data center. I believe the problems have since been fixed.

Have you had any power issues with them? Every couple months my VOIP
DID provider sends me an e-mail saying power is out at ServerBeach again
and the phones will start working when it comes back on.

These guys are looking good right now, but a bit pricing for my needs.
$250/mo is nice deal for 10U, but I only need 2 or 3U. Any idea if they are
flexible on the pricing they have on their site?

Ben, thanks for your message. Your points are very relevant to my
concerns. Any comments to these questions?

I am familiar with this out fit, and the owner, James Degopoulos. It would
be my first choice if it were not for the extra 20 minutes of down time to
get to Nashua vs. Manchester.

While I'm sure this isn't as close to you as you would like, MV
Communications (http://www.mv.com/) is in Manchester, NH. Their
services include colo, with 24/7 card-key access. Their rates seemed
reasonable when I was looking for local commercial hosting (for an
unrelated, failed project).

MV is the company which donates hosting to GNHLUG. I've said it
before on this very list: The customer service GNHLUG gets for free
from MV is better or equal to everything else I've ever been able to
*pay for* myself. Typically quite a bit better.

They're also one of the oldest commercial Internet providers -- they
formed in 1991 as an ISP. So they appear to have staying power.

  Highly recommended.

Nope, have a machine, need to move it, and have to drive it to the new home,
so the closer the better.

The ones I am aware of are MV Communications and Dynamic Internet.

MV graciously provided GNHLUG's colo and are in Manchester.

Dynamic Internet is in downtown Nashua. http://www.dynamicinternet.com/

If you don't need in-person, I've found ServerBeach to be quite awesome.
They provide the hardware, 2TB/mo transfer, I can give you a discount coupon
code if you're interested (10% IIRC)

a call for collos

2008-12-01 Thread Alan Johnson
I'm in desperate need of a collocation facility. The one I am in now is
closing their doors just 3 weeks after I moved in! Anyway, cheap and
available are my primary concerns. The closer to the Upper Valley (Lebanon,
Hanover, White River Junction, VT, etc.), the better but I am expecting to
have to go as far as Manchester or Montpelier. I'd even go to Nashua if I
have to, but I'd like to stay closer than that to minimize down time during
the move.

If you are a collo provider yourself, or work for one, please feel free to
contact me directly off list or by phone if you are not comfortable posting
"salesy" things to this list.

Thanks!
