They can be installed easily with yum, but I don't know how useful their "stock" configuration is. There are a list of them here: http://atrpms.net/dist/fc6/mythtv/ How useful they are depends on the person. For example, I expect the NetFlix module might be very useful to a NetFlix customer, not so much to others... :) During the install process, we did a 'yum install mythtv-suite', which pulls in mythtv and all the available plugins. Finishing up the Installfest stuff
Hi, Ben (and others, but mostly Ben, I think) has done a great job in putting together some web pages for the "next mass", and I am going through right now adding and touching up. But one thing occurred to me, and we can get people to lay in on this... I hear there are "plug-ins" to MythTV. The "MythTV" that we installed at NHTI, was that "basic", or with some "bells and whistles" plugins, and do we want to offer any? md ___ gnhlug-org mailing list gnhlug-org@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-org/

The Dell nVidia Quadro cards I typically see have a DMS-59 connector that can take either a dual VGA output adapter or a dual DVI output adapter. Is that what you're referring to? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMS-59 It does have one of those connectors (I didn't know the DMS-59 name before, thanks for that info). It's got a double-headed adapter cable with two DVI cables. The specs said it only supported digital. As I said, I haven't tried it. Come to think of it, maybe Dell meant they only shipped the DMS-59-to-DVI-I adapter cable with it. I don't know the "name" of the card, as it was ordered separately as an upgrade to a system with a different card, so we only got quoted a part number. It is NVidia FX series card; I remember that much. My workstation is a Dell Precision 490 with a Dell-provided nVidia Quadro NVS 285 with this connector ... We've got a bunch of those NVS 285 cards, and they came with both DMS-59-to-DVI-I and DMS-59-to-DE-15 (VGA) adapter cables. The specs for that card also say it can only support two digital displays at once, or two analog displays at once. I'm now wondering if they just mean the adapter cables there, too. I'll have to try a single DVI-I-to-DE-15-VGA adapter on one of the DVI-I ends and see what happens. -- Ben ___ gnhlug-org mailing list gnhlug-org@mail.gnhlug.org http://mail.gnhlug.org/mailman/listinfo/gnhlug-org/

While we don't want to be locked into a vendor, inviting some local suppliers who might be able to offer pre- installed boxes? One attendee thought there might be a business in offering these pre-installed and configured. Or parts too. Especially stuff they already stock - hard drives (what, I have data on this drive!), tuner cards, cables, etc. I once looked at what a 'MythTV Box' business would take and the big fist of the patent system loomed large.
