Re: New team coordinator and web site for pt_BR team.

2006-07-16 Thread Guilherme de S. Pastore
Thanks Gustavo, for all the work and time you put into this for several
years, and the free software spirit you've demonstrated along these past
few months - the Brazilian reality is usually quite different.

And thanks Clytie and Christian for the welcoming and help offer - I'll
do my best to keep the Brazilian Portuguese translation team at the good
levels it has been ever since I've known the GNOME Project.

Cheers,

Re: Seahorse status page showing the seahorse-0.8 branch

It seems that the status pages are showing the seahorse-0.8 branch,
however releases are being made out of HEAD. At least on my GNU
 distribution, the version is 0.9.1.

Could someone please clarify this, and correct the pages, if possible?

This branch was discussed more than a year ago:
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-i18n/2005-May/msg00033.html
http://mail.gnome.org/archives/gnome-i18n/2005-May/msg00035.html

So, either the seahorse-0-8 branch is still what should be translated,
or someone didn't do what they promised at that time.

Ok, thanks for letting us now know this officially (we, for obvious
reasons, cannot treat any GNOME translation team coordinator
resignation as official unless it happens on the gnome-i18n list).

My only concern was: who is this person? as no name and no further
information was mentioned. Will he take coordination away from Arabeyes?
 - so the question.

Well I wouldn't have reacted in any other way anyway unless he/she mentioned
that he/she is Mr/Mrs so and so
And he/she was in contact with Arabeyes for some time.

So normally you should be happy that I still think about you and Arabeyes
even if I am not officially part of it anymore...

'sinplomo' still hasn't replied with any of the details I requested
(like full name and list of past contributions), but as soon as he or
she has replied with the details, I will treat this person as a
candidate for Arabic coordinatorship in GNOME.

If the Arabeyes project still wants to manage the translations of
GNOME, they'd better present an alternative coordinator candidate as
soon as possible.

Hello,

I suggest to be the next coordinator. My name is Youssef Chahibi and
participate in Arabeyes. I currently coordinate KDE and work on the wordlist
and glossary project in Arabeyes. I am going to follow the needed step to get
a CVS access.

Ok. Please, get yourself an account in our Bugzilla
(http://bugzilla.gnome.org/), and let us know your account name once
done (the account name is the e-mail address you used for registering
the Bugzilla account). Furthermore, we would also like you to
subscribe to this mailing list
(http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n) if you have not
already done so, since we require all coordinators to be subscribed.

I am going to follow the needed step to get a CVS access.

A CVS account is a later issue; first we need to solve the
coordinatorship. Then the new coordinator can possibly have an account
once he or she has contributed translations. Please see
http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/RequestingAnAccount .

So, to summarize, the current situation is that right now we have two
candidates for the Arabic team coordinator position in GNOME;
'sinplomo' and Youssef Chahibi.

(Please keep the list cc:ed. Our policy is that all issues having to
do with coordinatorship issues should be presented in public, so as to
provide full transparancy and make sure that noone gets special

No, it is not. Only me. sinplomo wants to contribute in Arabeyes as well.
Since he has no previous contributions in Arabeyes, I tought you will have
 more confidence in me.

As 'sinplomo' has not officially retracted his candidacy (nor has he
so far given any of the details I requested, but that's a different
issue), he *is* still a candidate, until he lets us know otherwise.

You're right that past contributions and track record is a very
important, and possibly the most important factor when selecting a
coordinator. But it's not the only factor. Other factors that may play
a part in the selection is the willingness to follow process and
policies, and, for example, provide us with the information that we
need and that we have requested. So far, no candidate has.

String change in GTK+

2006-07-16 Thread Matthias Clasen
The text of the location label in the file chooser was
accidentally not marked for translation; I have done that
now, so it will show up as a new string in 2.10.1.

To make up for this, I have removed all the duplicate
paper names from the pot file...
