Well, I guess I qualify as a contributor then :)

Fwd: Updating our list of GNOME contributors

2007-03-06 Thread Vincent Untz
I guess most translators and documentation people are not on
devel-announce-list, so forwarding this mail.

Note that if you want to have the name of a contributor with no ascii
characters, it's possible. It'd be great to have the "ascii version" of
the name, though. Eg:
Danilo Segan
"'\xd0\x94\xd0\xb0\xd0\xbd\xd0\xb8\xd0\xbb\xd0\xbe\x20\xd0\xa8\xd0\xb5\xd0\xb3\xd0\xb0\xd0\xbd"

(Not sure why there's a single quote at the beginning of Danilo's name,
maybe that's a bug.)

Vincent

Subject: Updating our list of GNOME contributors

Hi,

Do you all remember that we list our contributors in About GNOME? The
list of GNOME contributors is probably outdated: many people contributed
a lot of stuff in recent years and are not there. It's a shame to not
thank them, so we have to fix this!

It would be really great if all maintainers could take 10 minutes and
check that all of their main contributors are listed in there. To do so,
open this URL and look for the name of your contributors:
http://svn.gnome.org/viewcvs/gnome-desktop/trunk/gnome-about/contributors.h?view=markup

If there are some missing contributors, send me a private reply with the
names of those contributors. I'll make sure to add them before 2.18.0.

It'd be great to have the non-ascii characters in hexa, so for example:
"Mariano Su\xc3\xa1rez-Alvarez" instead of "Mariano Suárez-Alvarez".

I'll ask for a hard code freeze break to get this in (yes, this is code
;-)).

Thanks,

Vincent

Glade branched for gnome 2.18

2007-03-06 Thread Tristan Van Berkom
As development for gnome 2.18 has frozen solid, we're obviously going
to have to branch out. so I did that.

translators, release-team and doc writers should know that the
2.18 branch can be found in the standard location:
  "svn.gnome.org/svn/glade3/branches/gnome-2-18"

I've already requested a string break for some important blockers
(i.e. glade in 2.18 is feature incomplete without them)... and I'll
be periodically requesting code freeze breaks for minor bug fixes
on Glade 3.2.x (for instance I have a simple fix pending on:
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=396436 ).

For those working on Glade, development will continue in 'trunk'
and instead of how we worked for 3.0/3.1, we'll be committing
bugfixes right onto trunk and porting them back into 'gnome-2-18'
periodically upon approval from the release-team (we'll try to
keep track of important bugfixes pending approval in the TODO
file or something).

There's a final release this week for 2.18, hopefully we'll
get that string break in there by that time, and we'll be
releasing that from the branch, the branch will at that
point become 3.2.x, and I'll bump 'trunk' to be 3.3.x at
that time.

Alright I think thats it for now... I'll write up something
more formal wrt bug 396436 once I get this show on the road.

Cheers,
  -Tristan

Sorry about this. I gave a lot of the maintenance work to Thomas this
cycle, without remembering to point out all the rules. In general
Thomas has done really well trying to do the best he could with
missing directions from me, but a slip or two like this was probably
inevitable. My bad; I'll do better next time I unload
responsibilities onto a new co-maintainer.

Thanks for your patience,
Elijah

This should be svn:external'ed, if I am correct. Sergey?

Makes sense, file a bug to track it :)

Though, I wonder how to handle multiple branches per module? Some
modules have multiple active branches (i.e. there is no one "best"
branch). Display them all?

This is now integrated into Fedora 7 with a bunch of translations I got
from you guys! Thanks a lot. Hopefully we can get the rest of the
translations soon.
