sudo msgfmt ./gnome-app-install.po
-o /usr/share/locale-langpack/fa/LC_MESSAGES/gnome-app-install.mo

And Now my menu is Persian!

 Thank you very much.

Always add '-c' and '--check-accelerators=_' arguments to msgfmt when you
compile Gnome translation files. These tests improve your translation work
by checking translation for errors.

Tanx for your concern,

I used this command:

sudo msgfmt -c -v --check-accelerators=_ ./gnome-app-install.po
-o /usr/share/locale-langpack/fa/LC_MESSAGES/gnome-app-install.mo

And this is the output:

38 translated messages, 66 untranslated messages.

With no errors.

But when I start gnome-app-installer (from a console) I get this error
message:

Show us a gettext header for your translation and a generic 'plural'
specification for your language. I think they are different, isn't it?

Tanx alot

I fixed it: there was a line like this:

Plural-Forms:

In my header, I just deleted it and now everything is OK.

Tanx again.

Obsolete packages

2008-05-22 Thread Djihed Afifi
Hi,

Currently in damned-lies there are many obsolete packages that should
probably be deleted or moved into an obsolete release set. They may
unnecessarily lure translators into wasting time translating packages
that will never be released.

Examples include:
* glade  (not glade-3).
* gaelon (no longer Gnome's browser, not aware of any working on it).
* gtetrinet (orphaned?)
* pan/pan2: any plans for these?

Any thoughts?

Let this excitement keep on encouraging you!

Always add '-c' and '--check-accelerators=_' arguments to msgfmt when you
compile Gnome translation files. These tests improve your translation work
 by checking translation for errors.

Of course, if you are serious about quality, you should look at
something like pofilter:
http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/toolkit/pofilter

I have customised the behaviour of some of the tests for Persian (and
other languages), but some of the tests might still give some incorrect
error reports at times (you can just ignore them, of course). Please let
us know if there are more customisations for a language that we can add.
For example, we recently improved our handling of French « quoting » to
avoid some incorrect results about punctuation we had before.

Keep well
Friedel
