Glibc locale creation

2011-05-13 Thread Claude Paroz
Hi,

For those interested in glibc locales, I recently created a small Django
application to help visualizing and editing those famous locale files.

http://lh.2xlibre.net

Talk to me if you have to work on a new locale to add. Well, I admit I
have still no expertise in LC_CTYPE or LC_COLLATE, so hopefully your
language script is not too different from an exiting one :-P

I even blogged about it (people knowing me understand what exploit it
is :-)

String additions to 'hamster-applet.master'

2011-05-13 Thread GNOME Status Pages
This is an automatic notification from status generation scripts on:
http://l10n.gnome.org.

There have been following string additions to module 'hamster-applet.master':

+ "Project Hamster (GNOME Time Tracker)"
+ "With %s percent of all activities being shorter than 15 minutes, you
seem to be a busy bee."
+ "With %s percent of all activities starting after 11pm, you seem to be a
night owl."
+ "With %s percent of all activities starting before 9am, you seem to be an
early bird."

Note that this doesn't directly indicate a string freeze break, but it
might be worth investigating.

Wow, great. Any hope I could abuse of your knowledges in glibc locales
in order to change current definition for Italian?

Time format for IT is now something like HH:MM:SS, but the proper way
should be HH.MM.SS

I never tried to report this upstream or, better, when I checked how to
report this there was 5 or 6 years old similar issues for other
locales :|

Yes, for reporting such bugs, you have to present a rock-solid
argumentation, with official resources if possible.
I can understand the maintainers, they don't want to change a setting
just to receive an opposite request two months later.

You can read a similar request for Swedish, where there is apparently no
official position, read the last message :-)

Claude,

Have you ever tried these tools for locale creation and testing?

http://translate.sourceforge.net/wiki/guide/locales/glibc

I was wondering how they compare to / complement yours.
