Secret 6.3 release on the 29th

2022-03-21 Thread Maximiliano Sandoval via gnome-i18n
Dear Translators

Secrets¹ 6.3 is going to be release on the 29th of March and it is currently in
string-freeze. It is mostly a bugfix release but a few translation notes and
about four new translatable strings were added.

Please report any issues with the strings at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/World/secrets/-/issues

1. https://l10n.gnome.org/module/secrets/

Thanks!

libdazzle

2022-03-21 Thread Marek Černocký
Hi,

in my opinion, libdazzle should be archived on Damned Lies and no
longer offered for translation.

Re: Release notes

2022-03-21 Thread Guillaume Bernard
Hi all,

I must admit I share Claude's point of view on this issue. Localisation is a
matter for people who wish to join our community of volunteers, and accessing
resources in their language is an added value I wish us to provide. I came
into GNOME though the localisation team in French and was motivated by the
availability of resources in my language.

Furthermore, as I accepted last year, I will spend some of my free time as a
volunteer to maintain l10n with Claude after writing my thesis (which will come
to an end soon). So, as Claude said, if there is Fresh Blood that wishes to
collaborate of this, help is welcomed.

Regards,

Re: Release notes

2022-03-21 Thread Claude Paroz

Hi all,

I must admit I'm also a bit unmotivated now by those moves which
consider i18n as an optional part of GNOME.
We've also recently had issues with GTK where some strings cannot be
extracted with our current infrastructure (1), and that make us feel
like i18n is really a second-zone citizen of the GNOME world.

I'm not sure I'll continue dedicating my volunteer time in this context.
But maybe some freesh blood may give a new boost to GNOME i18n, who knows?

There will be no translation for GNOME 42 Release Notes. It was

Re: Release notes

2022-03-21 Thread Marek Černocký
We have lost the option to translate the main GNOME presentation
website a few years ago. Now we can not translate Release notes. This
is not a good way from the translator's point of view. Web have very
good I18N of the whole GNOME system, but we are not able to present it
to users in their native language.
