GNOME Welsh translation team

2022-04-19 Thread Diogyn via gnome-i18n
Hello,

I'm looking to contribute to the Welsh translation of GNOME.

A team exists and I've reached out to the
coordinator, however it appears to be inactive: hardly any translations
uploaded in the past few years (none committed I don't think), no committers or
reviewers, the team's webpage hasn't existed in over a decade, etc.

I've also searched through the gnome-i18n archives and the last reference I can
find to the Welsh team was in August 2010
, which
also flagged the team's inactivity. The coordinator back then seemed happy to
hand over, but it doesn't look like anything happened (though do let me know if
I am wrong!)

I'm keen to submit translations however want to make sure that they actually
get committed. I'd be happy to take on coordinating if possible - grateful for
advice on how to proceed.

Kind regards,

Ciaran

Sure.

Translators, the merge happened in master and the strings are now available
for translation. Some of the strings might still have been available in
your po files as comments that could then reused. Let me remind you that
you should get the latest po file from Damned lies and work from there.
Taking French as an example, the merge results in 2 fuzzies and 0
untranslated (for 8 newly marked strings).

[DL]String additions to 'gnome-control-center.master'

2022-04-19 Thread GNOME Status Pages
This is an automatic notification from status generation scripts on:
https://l10n.gnome.org.

There have been following string additions to module
'gnome-control-center.master':

+ "Default"
+ "Eraser pressure"
+ "Firm"
+ "Forward"
+ "Middle Mouse Button Click"
+ "Right Mouse Button Click"
+ "Soft"
+ "Stylus tip pressure"

Note that this doesn't directly indicate a string freeze break, but it
might be worth investigating.

Yes, marking existing strings for translation is not a freeze break. The
timing is a bit unfortunate as it means that not only they weren’t
translated for 42, but also mostly won’t be for 42.1. Nevertheless, it is
good that someone found out about it and that they will now be
translatable. Thanks for checking with us.

Untranslated strings in gnome-control-center 42

2022-04-19 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi folks,

We have received a merge-request in gnome-control-center marking a
number of strings as "translatable". See
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/1265

These are translations for the strings added in the new Wacom panel
(ported to GTK4). This means that these strings are untranslated in
the current stable GNOME 42.

I wonder if it is ok to merge this now. Translations should continue
coming our way and we will have the chance to ship the translated
strings if they make it in time for 42.1 (just a handful of days from
today) or at least 42.2 (end of May).

Cheers,
Felipe.
