Thanks for your work, Mahyar. It's nice to have Persian back to more

Could we have Arash confirmation of the change?

git version of gtranslator

2011-04-14 Thread Arash Mousavi
Hi!

I really like to use a translation programs that uses native GNOME technologies
like gtranslator instead of poedit that uses wxgtk. Today I
saw Nacho's blog post[1] that says gtranslator git version is ported to GTK
3.0, so I got and tested it.
It seems that the gtranslator wraps original strings in PO files. Besides
that, it makes the files a little bigger, is that a problem?

Re: Resigning as Persian localization coordinator

2010-10-25 Thread Arash Mousavi
Hi;

According to the Roozbeh's mail and as Mahyar said on the his previous
mail, we invited
a group of active members of GNU/Linux in Iran included current
volunteers worked on
translations these days, to IFSUG Translators mailing list in order to
discuss and vote for
new coordinator of Persian l10n team.

As you can see on the mailing list archive (http://goo.gl/WM3I) the
general consensus is that
Mahyar (http://goo.gl/HAcV) has the qualifications to be the new coordinator.

I have to thank Roozbeh for his hard work during these years and hope
we can still use his
experiences in our team.

Cheers!

 Hello
 To describe the situation:
Currently there is no active mailing list in which all of the fa team
 members be in.
There is a mailing list: IFSUG persian translation team mailing list
I manually added all the fa members and other active people in this area
which counted up to 20 people to the list. And asked for candidates to
introduce themselves. We will talk (and maybe vote) about the person who we
 will propose as the coordinator.

 Thanks for you consideration

 Hi all,

I have been the coordinator of the Persian localization team in GNOME
for quite a few years now (my first contribution to the Persian
translation of GTK+ dates to 2000).

In the recent months, the Persian localization team has been inactive.
This is because most of the former contributors to the Persian
localization effort are not contributing anymore. Personally, I
couldn't help much either, mostly because my continuing work on
improving the Unicode Standard and the other standardization work is
taking all my free time. And I don't see that changing for months to
 come.

In the recent months, some people have volunteered to do translation
work, but unfortunately, there was no volunteer for reviewing and
editing the new translations (although I frequently asked both the
experienced and the new volunteers to help with that). I really insist
on any Persian localization that gets committed to the GNOME
repository to have some review, and with the lack of reviewers, it
seems to me that we are stuck and can't continue the Persian
localization effort without sacrificing the quality of the
 localizations.

The only remaining possibility I see is resigning from the coordinator
role, hoping that resetting it could insert new energy into the
effort. For the last few weeks, I have been trying to convince the
experienced members of the team to take over the role, unsuccessfully.
I hope the new volunteers who will take up the effort can maintain the
quality of the existing Persian translations of GNOME, and wish them
 the very best.

I will be unsubscribing from the gnome-i18n list immediately. Please
contact me at this email address if I could help with anything.

I will continue helping improve GNOME in other capacities, especially
the internationalization of its various libraries and applications. I
will also continue acting as the liaison between GNOME and the Unicode
 Consortium, together with Behdad Esfahbod.

I wish the best to the wonderful community of GNOME localizers of
various languages, some of which have become personal friends. I also
wish to thank the FarsiWeb Project and later Sharif FarsiWeb Inc (with
their wonderful works Sharif Linux and now FarsiTel), who have
sponsored most of the work that went into GNOME's Persian
 internationalization and localization effort.

Finally, I wish to thank the many contributors to the Persian
localization work, who did this high quality work and made possible
the first properly localized desktop environment in Persian.

So long, and thanks for all the fish,
 Roozbeh

 Once again Iranian battels.

I don't know what you are trying to gain here. This whole recent
threads fed by you and Mohammad Foroughi has been quite disrespectful
to the entire Persian team who has been contributing to GNOME for, what,
 eight years now.

I don't get it. I don't see what this is about. GNOME is a
meritocracy. Show me your merits. Just because you speak Persian
doesn't mean you are a good translator. Or you know about GNOME
processes. I'm willing to help you integrate in the team. But can't
help if you are not cooperative. If you continue your rude behavior.

This is my last message in this thread. If you need to talk to me, you
 have my personal address.

Dear my friends;

I think all that has happened so far, in here and in Technotux forums,
are just caused by some misunderstandings. We are a team and we have a
same goal. And I think the new group of translators has shown their
faithfulness with sending translations. Lets just keep working on our
goal.
