[evolution-kolab] Translations to gnome-x-y-z branches
Hi translators, I've just noticed that there have been recent i18n updates to the evolution-kolab gnome-3-5-4 branch [0]. We're using branches like gnome-x-y-z (with major, minor and patchlevel) only for fixing build issues which show after the release X.Y.Z, which happens from the gnome-x-y branch. Since your translating time is valuable, please note that there will be no further releases from gnome-x-y-z branches, only from gnome-x-y branches. Translations to gnome-x-y-z branches will most probably just sit there, unused. The gnome-3.5.4 branch may look like the latest branch of evolution-kolab, but it isn't - the master branch is still at GNOME 3.6, as we did not branch for 3.7/3.8 yet. At the same time, as I pointed out in [1], we were not able to keep up with string freeze this time, so there will be string additions to the "3.6" master branch till the end of October, when we have planned to create the gnome-3-6 branch and keep that one stable, UI-wise and translatable-string-wise. AFAICS, there will be no further release from the gnome-3-4 branch. Until the gnome-3-6 branch is created, you are much welcome to commit your translation updates straight to the master branch. Thank you very much for your translations and for your patience. [evolution-kolab] Freeze breaks to be expected
Hi everyone. This is a heads-up from the evolution-kolab [0] team, regarding to-be-expected additions of strings, UI and code even after the respective freezes for the 3.6 release cycle are in effect. We are not yet an "official" GNOME module, in that we're not yet listed in the module sets [1]. Still, for the 3.4 release cycle, we were able to keep up with the freezes on a voluntary basis. For the 3.6 cycle, necessary porting to upstream changes (Evolution and E-D-S) proved way more time-consuming than any of us had expected before, so we're much behind schedule. We're still striving to get a smoothly-working Kolab plugin out the door for 3.6.0, but this means we will not be able to heed to the freezes this time. UI stuff is mostly done and we do not expect intrusive changes there (if any), and string changes will be confined to adding some error messages here and there. Existing strings should be left untouched, as far as we can see now. Moreover, there's no GNOME docs as yet for evolution-kolab (at least I'm not aware of any), so that one should also not be an issue. I'm therefore confident that we will not annihilate any i18n or docs efforts. :-) Kind regards, Christian [0] https://live.gnome.org/Evolution/Kolab [1] ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/gnome/teams/releng/3.5.91/ -- kernel concepts GmbH Tel: +49-271-771091-14 Sieghuetter Hauptweg 48 D-57072 Siegen http://www.kernelconcepts.de/ signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part. ___ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org https://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n

I'd suggest the string "none" be translated (marked with context, for that matter), and the rest done in the source via string concatenation, like adding indentation and braces (which does not need translation, so why bother translators with that?). I've merged the porting branch of evolution-kolab into git master very recently. The code is on it's way towards 3.3.5 prerelease of Evolution/E-D-S. There are a good number of strings already, most of which (all?) originating from a Camel (IMAPX) code dupe, so translation should be mostly copy&paste from CamelIMAPX. However, there will be more strings trickling in, while I'll be reworking error propagation and GUI stuff. The gnome-2-30 branch did not receive translation (and won't need to, I think, see quote above). The only branch of interest is master, with many additions and maybe a couple of changes to existing strings before string announcement period. I think evolution-kolab is now ready to be added to l10n.gnome.org, with myself as maintainer and 'master' as the only interesting branch ('gnome-2-30' also existing, but no further work will be done there). [evolution-kolab] Porting and translating the plugin
Hi everyone. The evolution-kolab plugin for Evolution/E-D-S [1] just recently started to migrate from SourceForge to GNOME.org. Our first release (back on SourceForge) was for GNOME 2.30 a few weeks ago. For various reasons we had to settle on that ground for initial implementation. There has not been any translation for the plugin, despite the translatable strings we had, since GNOME 2.30 had been released already when we started implementing our plugin. We *just* started porting the plugin to current Evo/E-D-S git master, and there is much change to be expected regarding the translatable strings. I've seen that Piotr Drąg was kind enough to add polish translation already, but I'm afraid that was too early. I would like to save you from double work, only I'm presently not clear how to do that. Any thoughts on how to best proceed from here?
