Hello, I am just going to answer the above question:

You can choose as many languages as you please in the Cinnamon user
environment and you could setup your defaults in your newly made
distro.
Take a look here: https://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?t=156631

For starters you need to get to the Language settings and drag and drop
your language from the grey area to the black area. So you will have:
Aymara and Spanish with black, everything else with grey.

Hope this helps,

Daniel

Hi again Matej,
I think you could do the same „grep”-technique but this time you should
open the terminal in the folder that contains the .mo files (it depends
from distro to distro)

On apt-based distros you could try to locate all the files of one
package with: dpkg -L package-name
and you should be able to find the location of the .mo files for that
package (if it was packaged correctly it should use a shared folder for
the .mo localization files, that means that other packages would have
.mo files at the same location)

I am also open to other Ideas.

Hello Matej,
Here are the steps I usually do:
1. On your language team page in Damned Lies open a release page (Like
Gnome 40). There is a link to download all the .po files, it is located
at the bottom of translation statistics. So click that link to download
E.g. For the Romanian team the link would be at the bottom os this
page: https://l10n.gnome.org/languages/ro/gnome-40/ui/
2. Extract the .po files in a folder
3. Open a terminal in that folder
4. Use the following grep command: grep -ri "the string you are looking
for" *
(replace "the string you are looking for" with the actual search term.)

Be aware that there can be memonics in the original string so you could
try searching for a part of that string.

Hope it helps you... There might be other ways to do it... maybe via
Gitlab, but I don't know other ways.

Hi again, Claude thanks for fixing gnome-packagekit. But gnome-control-
center still has issues left.

We can not commit from Damned Lies (either we get a 500 error or
nothing happens) ... and when I tried to push directly via git the git
client hanged with:
"remote: error: refname 'gnome-2-0-0' is ambiguous"
But the commit seems to be accepted by the server.

However the stats did not update in Damned Lies.

xkeyboard-config out of sync

Gnome is tracking: xkeyboard-config-2.25.99

It seems to be a fetch error.

On [1] it says: Error regenerating POT file for xkeyboard-config with a

Can someone check and assure that the versions are in sync?

There are still errors committing from Damned Lies. Now the "Submit to
repository" appears in the dropdown but when I choose it it fails.

This is the complaint:

A apărut o eroare în timpul aplicării acțiunii: Comiterea nu a reușit.
Eroarea a fost: „[Errno 1] Command: "['git', 'commit', '-m', 'Update

The '.git/hooks/pre-commit' hook was ignored because it's not set as
executable. hint: You can disable this warning with `git config
advice.ignoredHook false`. ”

The first part translates as "There was an error while applying the
action: Commit failed. The error was..."

I tried to commit manually via git but I still get:

«««GitLab: You are not allowed to push code to this project.
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.»»»

Yes, I know ... my last action was set "to review" because I was unable

Hello Snehalata,
For testing of translation for the User interface I sometimes use the
deckard tool... (but it seems it does not have the GIMP module) or you
could install GIMP on your favorite distro and replace the files .mo
files that are used for localization.
For example on Debian/Ubuntu you could use the command "dpkg -L gimp"
to find out where gimp stores its files, but they usually are stored in
/usr/share/locale/ro/LC_MESSAGES/ (replace "ro" with your own
langcode).

For testing of the User Manual you can compile the new translation into
a new manual as described here:

https://wiki.gnome.org/TranslationProject/LocalisationGuide#Testing_a_translation_of_help_files
(Please read the whole "Testing" section and you will find useful tips
on how to test the user interface and documentation.)

If you need further advice please let me know.

Sorry, my bad. I was quick to draw the conclusion that it is not
updated because I was missing the new apps like gnome-documents and
some games like gnome-mines.
I don't know how simple or complicated it is to add them, but they
would be of great help for us translators.
If there is just a matter of adding a git repo, I could make a list of
