Call for finishing translations for new release of ekiga
Hi, 4.0.1 release of ekiga is due soon, perhaps on Wendnesday. Best regards, Hi, I'm afraid that, unfortunately, translators would be hammering their preferred input method translating GNOME 3.6 which is around the corner... Would make sense to release a 4.0.1 a week or so (with another, appreciated btw., notice like this one) after GNOME is out? That would give you quite a lot of translations more I would guess (at least the Catalan one for sure :) After discussion with Damien, we decided to delay by one week ekiga 4.0.0. This also allows us to fix the last remaining string issues this week :o) I will resend you a reminder e-mail in exactly one week, once gnome is out. So as promised here is the reminder to update ekiga translations. The initial plan was to release ekiga 4.0.0 in three days, on Monday, but very probably we will release a few days or one week later. It will be a very good release, probably the best one, so please update the translations on Monday evening UTC if you have the time. I can't tell you if a string addition is possible, but that phrasing is pretty awkward in English (and account is spelled incorrectly in one place). I would suggest this instead: If you do not have a SIP or H323 account, ekiga can only be used on your local internal network (inside your company, for example). You will require an account if you want to be accessible to people on the Internet. Many web sites allow you to create an account. We suggest that you use a free ekiga.net account, which allows you to be joined by any person with a SIP account. So I would like to commit a string such as: If you do not have a SIP or a H323 account, ekiga can be used only in your network (for example inside your enterprise). On the contrary, you need such an account if you want to be joined by people on Internet. Many Web sites allow you to create an account. We propose you to use a free ekiga.net acount, which allows you to be joined by any person with any SIP account. Or so. To resume: if I make a branch called gnome-2-30 from current stable branch (gnome-2-26), it will automatically become current stable branch and will be string frozen forever, while master becomes ok for string changes until 1-2 months before gnome 3.0, cf. its roadmap. So the only way to 'defreeze' it is to create a branch so the freeze apply to the branch and no more to master. Is it possible to put gnome-2-26 branch in freeze, as it is the current stable branch, and let master as unstable (we hope to create unstable releases for it)? Yes, of course, if you confirm that the version released in GNOME 2.30 is from the 2.26 branch, it is even the right thing to do. We do not yet know which version will be released with gnome 2.30. Reference: The string freeze will continue for every module affected by the freeze until the module has branched for gnome-2-30. Only after that point, HEAD will no longer be affected by the string freeze.
