Freeze break request for gnome-control-center (printers) UI changes, bug #690351

2015-08-28 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi,

We have updated gnome-control-centers Printers' panel in order to fit
the new designs. These changes have included two new strings.

https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=690351

Since it's an old bug and makes Printers way more presentable while
empty (no printers), I hope we can make this exception.

Thanks,
Felipe.

Hi, sorry for the late response.

These changes fix the build in those branches. They weren't buildable
with the current API.

Is it possible to take it as an exception?

Felipe.

[DL] String additions to 'gnome-boxes.gnome-3-26'

2017-10-02 Thread Felipe Borges
Sorry, I was just pointed out about this.

Could we still get an exception on this one?

This patch makes the Resizing of virtual machines useful now.

For context: when a VM has snapshots, our backend does not allow disk
resizing. Since we are not creating a snapshot every time a machine is
installed the Disk Resizing has become useless (changes don't take
effect).

If not, I will revert the commit before the 3.26.1 release.

Thanks,
Felipe.

They would show up in the terminal if you are running Boxes from it.
Or depending on the window manager/DE it could show it in a dialog
while the user wants to suspend the system during an installation
(that would get interrupted if so).

UI/String freeze break request for gnome-boxes

2019-03-15 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi,

Since the release of GNOME Boxes 3.32.0 this week, we started to get
reports from users having problems with our recent "auto enable 3D
acceleration" feature. For this small set of users (dual-GPU or
unconventional graphics drivers), Boxes has become unusable.

That's why I have proposed the following merge request
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-boxes/merge_requests/133

These changes introduce a pop-up notification that shows up only at
the first time a user starts a machine that supports 3D acceleration.
The notification offers an user action to Disable 3D acceleration.
Other than UI, it introduces two new strings:
"Experiencing graphics problems?" and "Disable 3d acceleration".

Screenshot -> https://i.imgur.com/EYC5IDa.jpg
(by the way, those glitches you see in the screenshot are the ones
worked-around by this).

I have discussed the approach with both Jakub Steiner and Allan Day,
and their are onboard with the change.

Thanks, and sorry for the inconvenience of making this request this
late in the release cycle.

Felipe.

I did set the gitlab permissions to the gnome-3-38 and master branches to

Is there some other permission I should change for you to be able to commit?

String freeze break request for GNOME Boxes

2021-03-01 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi,

During this cycle we added support for handling a few file formats,
yet we forgot to update the UI label that indicates the supported
files. See the screenshot at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-boxes/-/merge_requests/413

I'd like to ask permission to merge
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-boxes/-/merge_requests/413 and
apologize for forgetting about this change.

Regards,
Felipe Borges.

Sure. Thanks for the tips, I will do better next time.

String freeze break exception request for gnome-control-center

2021-09-06 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi,

The Keyboard settings user interface in GNOME Settings has changed and
we forgot to update the panel's desktop file.

This merge-request addresses this

Cheers,
Felipe.

String freeze break exception for user-accounts/parental-controls in GNOME Settings

2021-09-07 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi,

TL;DR: We need to add some keywords to the
gnome-control-center/user-accounts panel desktop file.
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/1053

* Rationale:
The GNOME Settings User Accounts panel can [optionally] be built with
parental control capabilities. This adds options to the user interface
allowing for restricting the access to applications to a child user.

While there's a standalone app for configuring parental controls, our
design expects this application to be launched from GNOME Settings.
See
https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pwithnall/malcontent/-/merge_requests/119#note_1052263

This way, we need the User Accounts desktop file to contain keywords
related to parental controls, so the User Accounts panel shows up in
Shell searches. The merge-request for this is at
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/1053

Thanks,
Felipe.

GNOME Boxes has changed its default development branch name to "main"

2022-03-29 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi,

This is a notification that GNOME Boxes has renamed its git default
development branch to "main".

It is of my understanding that tools such as Damned Lies
(l10n.gnome.org) might need manual intervention to handle this.

Cheers,
Felipe Borges.

Untranslated strings in gnome-control-center 42

2022-04-19 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi folks,

We have received a merge-request in gnome-control-center marking a
number of strings as "translatable". See
https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/1265

These are translations for the strings added in the new Wacom panel
(ported to GTK4). This means that these strings are untranslated in
the current stable GNOME 42.

I wonder if it is ok to merge this now. Translations should continue
coming our way and we will have the chance to ship the translated
strings if they make it in time for 42.1 (just a handful of days from
today) or at least 42.2 (end of May).

Cheers,
Felipe.

GNOME Settings string changes in network security file chooser

2022-08-23 Thread Felipe Borges
Hi,

This is a notification[0] that we are updating some strings in our
file chooser for selecting certificates/keys in the Security tab of
network settings.

https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/merge_requests/1438

The string changes are:

- DER, PEM, or PKCS#12 private keys (*.der, *.pem, *.p12, *.key)
+ DER, PEM, PKCS#12, or PGP private keys

and

- DER or PEM certificates (*.der, *.pem, *.crt, *.cer)
+ DER or PEM certificates

We basically removed the text between parentheses.

The rationale is that we don't want users to focus on literal file
suffixes but instead on file types (known mime-types).

Cheers,
Felipe Borges.
