Stepping down
I first got involved with the GNOME Project through the translation team back in 2003, and this involvement has been nice and fun up to a certain point, besides having taught me a number of lessons regarding human relations as well as language issues. However, in recent months I have seen a range of behaviours which I find indescribably hard to cope with, from people protesting on this very mailing list because they deemed it unfair and prejudicial not to have direct write access to SVN, no matter how carefully my reasoning both as translation coordinator and systems administrator had been exposed, to groups of people acting inside the team with so much independence as to changing internal procedures regardless of my serious concerns having been made public or sometimes my having explicitly stated my opposition and disapproval. For the sake of exemplification, I have been unable to post to the team mailing list for the last couple of months. I am actually quite concerned of what might follow this act, but I still have hope I may be awfully mistaken, for what I foresee is far from making me enthusiastic, but it is already beyond my current motivation to try and fight this, which has been coming for some time, at least from the inside. Thanks Gustavo, for all the work and time you put into this for several years, and the free software spirit you've demonstrated along these past few months - the Brazilian reality is usually quite different. gnome-terminal branched for 2.14
Hi, gnome-terminal has just been branched for 2.14 - the stable branch is now gnome-2-14, and development focusing on GNOME 2.16 coolness will happen in HEAD, as usual. Some of the ideas include continuing optimization work and reworking part of the user interface, mainly with regard to the not too well organized references to profiles all around. There have been some string changes in gnome-terminal, some due to libegg changes, and others due to the following: - The default profile name now being translatable (Default) - The addition of an option to disable font anti-aliasing when running without the XRENDER extension. String addition in gnome-terminal
Hi folks! This message is to warn you that you have work to do (although everybody here loves to work, so that should not be an issue ;-). Ok, seriously now, since the release of GNOME 2.13.4 we have entered the string change announcement period, which means I should warn you when strings change, so I'm doing it for gnome-terminal now. I have added a little description for it in the about dialogue, should not be hard to translate. However, gnome-terminal had been somewhat unmaintained for some time, so although I will try to concentrate on fixing actual bugs that annoy everyone, you can probably expect more string changes until the release of 2.14, either as fixes or as UI improvements. atomix
Hi, all! =) First, as a bit of history, over 4 years ago Jens Finke imported a new module into the GNOME CVS, and it was called atomix. It started out as test code for Jens to learn GNOME programming, if I'm not mistaken, but then turned out to be a very nice game =D After some time, though, in 2003, for lack of time and interest, Jens abandoned Atomix, and its old versions kept rusting until 2005, when I took its maintenance over. After some time put into it, it was reinserted into Bugzilla, its version on ftp.gnome.org was updated, lots of bugs were fixed and some improvements were made. The only thing that hasn't happened yet is translations catch up, which is now even more important than before, as I'm trying to get this nice little game included in the desktop release of GNOME 2.14, and that's why this message is being sent. Please, take some time to get its few (58) strings updated in your own languages, so it's back into shape for everyone =D Also, if possible, I would greatly appreciate it if it could be integrated into the translation statistics webpages.
