Re: esperanto translate of Gnome

2008-11-17 Thread Guillaume Savaton
Hi,

I received message from Guillaume (he translates Gnome to esperanto) and
want help, but I only read well the english (to write I have dificults).
If my contribution can be positive, tell me what may I do.

Welcome! Please contact Guillame directly if you want to know what
needs to be done for Esperanto in GNOME.

I am the official coordinator of the GNOME Esperanto translation team.
The team has not been very active over the last few years and needs to
take a fresh restart.
Unfortunately, my involvement in various projects leaves me very
little time to manage the translation team, so I think a new
coordinator is needed.

Kim Ribeiro has accepted to become the new official coordinator.
Can you, please, update the contact page of the GNOME Translation Project?

Thanks, and best regards,

Guillaume

Could not find gimp/po-python in status pages

2006-10-23 Thread Guillaume Savaton
Hi,sorry if this appears to be a stupid question, or if it has already been answered on this list.My team translated the file available in gimp/po-python from the GNOME CVS,but I could not find a corresponding entry in the status pages at
http://l10n-status.gnome.org/HEAD/eo/extras/index.htmlIs it intentional or does this module exist somewhere else under another name?Regards,

You should probably talk to people in the Bugsquad as well, so that they can change your Bugzilla account.
One can do that on his own, using edit account or something like that on Bugzilla. No need for action from bugmasters.Aah... it used to be not possible to change the mail address in
Bugzilla without admin intervention back in the old days. I guess evenBugzilla has had progress. :-)Done.Thanks.Guillaume

Re: How can I join the Esperanto translation team ?

2006-04-26 Thread Guillaume Savaton

OK, I've added your
name and e-mail address to the teams page at

snip

Please verify that these listings are correct.
You're now officially the GNOME Esperanto coordinator in the GNOME
Translation Project.

Thanks.
Everything is correct.

Other than that, please ask around on this mailing list or at the IRC
channel #i18n on irc.gnome.org if you need help getting started. An
introduction to the translation process can be found at
http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gtp/l10n-guide/.

A few last questions before closing this thread and starting a new one.

I have noticed that some people send their translated po files to this
mailing list.
I will probably do the same for the first translations that I will want
committed (there is already one file entering the reviewing stage).

But it seems that it would be more comfortable to get a CVS account so that
I may commit translations myself.

Is it reasonable at this stage to apply for a CVS account ?
(I am already a CVS and SVN user, and I have read the translation-related
documentation)

And to whom should I send the request ?

Regards,

Guillaume

Re: How can I join the Esperanto translation team ?

2006-04-26 Thread Guillaume Savaton

Please do not send attached po files to the list; instead please send
a mail with a web link to a place where the po files can be
downloaded.

This is actually what I meant.
I should have made myself clearer.

So the usual procedure for a new coordinator is:

1. Create translations
2. Make sure they validate
3. Ask for someone to commit them for you
4. When they have been committed, and you think you've contributed
enough for making it obvious that you need an account of your own,
request an account. The instructions can be found at:
http://live.gnome.org/NewAccounts

So, let's start working...

Thanks for all the good advice.

Re: How can I join the Esperanto translation team ?

2006-04-19 Thread Guillaume Savaton

Hi,

Guillaume, we'll try to give Artem a week to reply from now. However,
if you can help remind us when a week has passed, that would be most
kind, so that we can resolve this issue by then if not sooner.

More than a week has passed now.
And my first message to Artem Popov has been left unreplied for a full
month.

I am still interested in contributing to the GTP, as the coordinator for the
Esperanto translation.

What shall I do now ?

Re: How can I join the Esperanto translation team ?

2006-04-19 Thread Guillaume Savaton

absolutely no response for weeks now. Maybe your community and mine have
more than enough help at this time? ;-)

Well, as for now Esperanto is mentioned as unsupported in GNOME (less than
3% messages translated).

While the Korean team seems to be quite active (more than 96% strings
translated), I guess there has been no Esperanto team at all for at least
two years.

In my case, either there is a real need for help translating GNOME to
Esperanto,

or maybe there is no need for Esperanto at all ?

Guillaume

Also, are you volunteering for the position as the Esperanto
coordinator in GNOME? Please clarify.

The answer is : yes

Unless anyone -- with more experience than me -- wants the seat, I volunteer
for the coordinator position.

Thanks for your reply.
I will send a reminder to this list in a few days.

I hope this is useful. :) Good luck with your translations!

Many thanks for your detailed answer.

In fact, I guess I will need a little time to get a clear overview of the
process.

I have already started with the howtos, as you suggested.
