I don't want to show in the License dialog the entire license text but only the good old "This program is free software... [snip]You should have received a copy of the GNU General Public License along with this program..." snippet. I agree with you translations of license text could be problematic. But I don't think this is the case since the text only says which is the license and where to find it. Fixing bug #330868 in a smart way
Hi, I was giving a look to bug #330868 (Adding "License" button and dialog to About dialog). It seems to me we are duplicating the same long strings (mostly the GPL license) in most applications marking them for translation in order to add a "License" button to the about dialog. What about storing the most important open source licenses in a unique repository in order to minimize string duplication and translators work? I'm thinking to a special package like the one containing all the languages name (the iso_639 module). I'm particularly interested in knowing what our fantastic i18n team thinks about this problem. Is it a real problem for you or am I on crack? Any volunteer to set up the module? Ciao, Paolo ___ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n

Bug #149988 fixed in the 2.8 branch of gedit... is it a problem?
Hi, I have just fixed bug #149988 in the gedit-2-8 branch of gedit. This has changed the name of the .pot file. Is it a problem for you? You will probably have to the info on the Translation statistics pages but I'm not sure if this can create other problems to you. Please, lemme know if it is a big problem and I have to revert the patch since I'm going to make the 2.8.3 release. Regards, Paolo P.S. String change request for gedit

New strings in GtkSourceView
While fixing bug #126589, just before the string freeze, I have added 4 strings to GtkSourceView. Actually the same strings already exist in another file so I don't know if this counts as a string change. New translatable strings in gedit
Hi, fixing bug #166211, I have added some new languages (and so new translatable strings) to the list of languages supported by the spell checker plugin of gedit. I know, I should use language names and translations from iso 639 (see bug #150535). But, at the moment, iso-codes is not a GNOME dependency and it is not installed in my distribution (FC 2). Furthermore, the patch Danilo gently provided has some problems I don't know how to solve in a sane way. I hope to be able to use iso-codes in the future, but ATM, it seems problematic.
