Re: Vala tutorial translatable
Keeping the Vala Tutorial on the wiki makes it easier to maintain in general, especially by the people responsible for it's creation and upkeep. The developer docs do link to it, but at this time this tutorial does not really fall under the domain of the documentation team, but rather the people working on the Vala language. Duplicating it in the devel-docs will of course introduce the problem of keeping things in sync, and possible losing the current vital contributors to this important document. I think for now, the best choice really might be to create a new Spanish language wiki page. 2012/3/4 Daniel Mustieles García > Many thanks Gil. > > I think the second idea (moving it to a translatable system based in PO > files) is the best choice :) > > El 4 de marzo de 2012 11:46, Gil Forcada escribió: > > El dg 04 de 03 de 2012 a les 11:03 +0100, en/na Daniel Mustieles García >> va escriure: >> > Hi all, >> > >> > Yesterday, a new translator joined Spanish team and asked about the >> > possibility to translate the Vala tutorial [1] hosted in gnome.org. >> > >> > As far as I know, it is not listed in DL as a module (and I dont know >> > if it has been written with gettext support). We are working on new tutorials in the platform-demos of the gnome-devel-docs module. This work is very much a work in progress and in a state of flux. Re: What not to translate, for now.
I think an empty po file for the docbook xml for glchess and mahjongg would be good, but those are the old docs, so I don't think it's using the new build tools. For gnome-sudoku, I think the po file being generated is from the Mallard docs. I just don't want the docbook being translated for anything in gnome-games, as those docs are out of date anyways. Ya, perhaps an empty po file for work-in-progress is not the best solution. Perhaps some "work-in-progress" tag, so translators are aware that changes may occur. Re: What not to translate, for now.
I was considering deleting the gnome.sudoku.xml file, but have been hesitant to do that since the Mallard version is not fully complete yet. So, do you mean placing a 'do not translate' mark on the xml (docbook) versions, letting translators know not to translate? I can see how this idea could really be useful, especially for some of the gnome-games modules. What not to translate, for now.
Hi everyone, The gnome sudoku manual is in the process of being rewritten using Mallard. Please, do not translate the gnome-sudoku.xml version, as it is out of date and will not ship with 3.4. Also be aware that the Mallard version has not been completed, and the existing pages still need review, so translating them at this time may mean a "fuzzy" future. Additionally, I am hoping that work will begin on the Mahjongg manual, so best not to translate the docbook version of this either. In general, the docbook versions of many of the games manuals are out of date, and an effort is being made to rewrite them from scratch based on the current versions of the games, so that they are up to date. Cheers, and thank you for all your efforts, -- Tiffany Antopolski ___ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n
