RE: Tajik Translation Team
To whom it may concern, Hi! I am a new coordinator for Tajik Translation Team. For many years I have been working with Roger Kovacs on many translation and software localization projects. And now this is a great honour for me to join the Gnome Project and help to coordinate Tajik Translations. For the past week over 100 files have been auto-translated with the exact matches from previous projects to make sure that basic Tajik terms, as "Copy, Paste, Delete, Confirm, Insert, File, Folder etc.." in Gnome translations become consistent with all other existing translations and products like KDE, Mandriva, Fedora, openSuse, PS-BSD, Libreoffice and others. During the initial translation process of Gnome files I have collected information about the translatable strings and added some recommendations to the first "Gnome Specific Translation Guide for Tajik Language". Translators and reviewers can download this Guide from http://kde.tj/Gnome_Specific_Translation_Guide_for_Tajik_Language.rtf This guide provide almost full information needed to translators to get start with Gnome translations into Tajik. We now have to review and commit all translated files to Gnome to show up the statistics. That would be great to see the next release of Gnome with some Tajik so we can make testing and improvements. It is a manual process. To have your files commited, it is required that a person have proper permission to acess git and commit them. If you yet don´t have access to the gnome's git repository, you need that someone send those files to git. Asking the list to push your files is the way to do that. After submited, it just take some minutes to update the statistics percentage on Damned Lies. P.S.: If confirmed, I offer my help in order to commit those files. Hi Enrico, Gil and others, Yes, it sounds like we have a good progress of 10% with Tajik translations. As you noticed some files has just a few messages translated, so that is OK to leave them in Damned Lies to complete later and commit as 100% translated. The Damned Lies portal is wonderful and very comfortable to manage translations. I really like the User management part and options on how the team members can inform each other about the work process through statuses and comments. Great job on the portal! Hope to see new version of Gnome with some Tajik language soon. It will allow to share Gnome software in Tajik with friends and colleagues, and of course, try to receive their comments to improve the quality of our translations for future releases. I look forward to get more details on how to work with git to commit future works, and that will be really helpful to receive some screenshots about how to do the basic steps. Dear Marcos, Great news and congratulations! I believe you will make a great job on this project. That would be wonderful if you include Glossary tab/window into the Gtranslator and everything about glossaries (possibility to work with custom glossaries, import/export operations.) I suggest the perfect way about the glossaries would to be integrate StarDict or GoldenDict with Gtranslator, so that those dictionaries, articles or web resources like Wikipedia could be available from Grtanslator's interface. Ability to add custom spellchecking dictionaries will make Gtranslator just perfect. Verification tools for translation consistency, tags, terminology should be essential for new Gtranslator. Gtk+UI translations statistics for Tajik language
Hi, Tajik Translation statistics is not shown Gtk+ UI translations. https://l10n.gnome.org/vertimus/Gtk-UI/master/po/tg It should be 100%, except of po-properties (translation ongoing). Tajik language: gnome-terminal
Hi, Could you please, check "gnome-terminal" for Tajik language and see if more accurate update can be prepared, so I can download if from the Damned Lies and translate the rest? The issue is that previous .po file with 418 strings was 100% and the current one with 433 is just 20%. Is there a way to auto-translate 100% matches without marking them as fuzzy and leave just those 15 strings to complete? Regarding the branches or to make sure I correctly understand the branches: What is the difference between the master and development (for example, GNOME 3.10 (development)), and old stable? If translations or updates are committed to gnome-3-6 now - is this a waste of time, as gnome-3-6 will not be released anymore? What if translations and updates are committed only to gnome-3-10? or/and only to master? or why to commit to both gnome-3-10 and master?
