Re: Incorrect translations of gsettings schema key's localised default value
Hey, Thanks for mention this. It reminds me, once again, why we needs translator comments for every string. Reagrds, Yosef Or Boczko בתאריך ג', ספט 23, 2014 בשעה 9:31 PM, Christian Persch c...@gnome.org כתב: Hi; gnome-terminal contains a gsettings schema with a value that allows localising the default: #: ../src/org.gnome.Terminal.gschema.xml.h:1 msgctxt visible-name msgid 'Unnamed' msgstr Here, the single-quotes around the string are essential, and *must* be reproduced in the translated string, since this value will be parsed as a GVariant of type s (string). However, I've found out that many translations of this (msgctxt, msgid) are using locale-specific quotes here, e.g.: ca.po:msgctxt visible-name ca.po-msgid 'Unnamed' ca.po-msgstr «Sense nom» This will *not* work as intended, since parsing will fail and thus the untranslated default value will be used (and a warning printed on console). At least the following translations are affected (but everyone else is invited to double-check theirs too): bg, ca, ca@valencia, de, es, fr, gl, hu, ko, lt, lv, nb, ne, nl, sk, sr, sr@latin, te, zh_CN, zh_HK, zh_TW Note that the same problem may also exist in other modules that use translatable default values, but I didn't check for that. Re: Hebrew Team Changes
Hey, Thanks for the quick response, I'm sorry for too late for replay, I wasn't here yesterday. I'm glad to be the new Hebrew team coordinator, and hope we will make a better translation, from work of more than two people. Just to be clear: Yaron Shahrabani still here, he just with not many time to work on the translation. he still the committer of the team (i.e. with a git access) (and me). Btw, git accsess to translator is still useful, for added files to the POTFILE.in, to mark strings as translatable, etc. Regards, Yosef Or Boczko בתאריך ד', אפר 16, 2014 בשעה 10:04 PM, Claude Paroz cla...@2xlibre.net כתב: Le mercredi 16 avril 2014 à 18:15 +0200, Daniel Mustieles García a écrit : Many thanks Yair for your quick response :) Said this, DL administrators, could you please make the change in the Hebrew's team configuration? Re: Hebrew Team Changes
I think we not really use the bugzilla for report bugs in the translation itself (i.e a bad translation). e-mail me it a better way to fix something. But for any case, it will be good idea to make me track the bugs of l10n Hebrew [he], I just not remember how to do this (or how to see the list of the bugs there, than I'll clean the bugs). Who should/can handle and close them? The people to whom translation bugs are assigned have been inactive for long time, they certainly won't close them. yoseforb has editbugs and canconfirm permissions (to change the status of a bug report). Default assignee in Bugzilla for the L10N product and the Hebrew component is yairhr, default QA (also receiving bug notifications) is gilosher. Should this (and the four open tickets) be changed to something? Tell me and I'll do so. :) Both, yairhr and gilosher inactives. andre On ד', 2014-04-16 at 11:48 +0300, fr33domlover wrote: Hello, I'm participating in the Hebrew translation team. It's a tiny team with just 3-4 people, and activity changing all the time: Some people being more busy with other life activites, some becoming less busy. Since recently Damned Lies has become the way to post translations, some new role assignments are required. The current official team coordinator is inactive for very long time and didn't respond to my message, and the actual coordinator has been very busy for several months. In addition, there are no Committers at all, so I can't even commit my work to Git. I'd like to make the following changes. First, these are the current active translators I know of: - yoseforb (who also does coding and has git access) - fr33domlover (me) I'd like yoseforb to be the new coordinator, and the team website to point to the gnome-il IRC channel. Also, I'd like yoseforb to have all privileges: Commiter, Reviewer, etc. - and unless there are some other strict requirements for these roles, I'd like to be a Committer too (fr33domlover), since having just a single person do this is a bottleneck. I've been sending yoseforb patches and he would push them with my name as signed-off, which was of course a bit inconvenient workaround... If the team coordinator has privileges to change the Hebrew team details, then that's all I need: Once yosrforb (who is very active) has these permissions, we'll edit the page with up-to-date info. Otherwise I need all the changes mentioned above.
