Generally, we are trying to be as near as possible to JHBuild
modulesets. More precisely, we are currently including most modules from
gnome-suite-core-3* and meta-gnome-apps-tested metamodule from
gnome-apps-3*
When some of those modules are not following GNOME freezes, we exclude
them from our main focus.

The latter: moved outside the main module set.

See http://l10n.gnome.org/releases/gnome-extras/ for an overview, and
e.g. http://l10n.gnome.org/languages/nl/gnome-extras/ui-part/ for the

Versions of gnome color manager

2010-08-21 Thread Ask Hjorth Larsen
Hi Richard Hughes and translators of gnome color manager

Back in May there was a release of gnome color manager which we
translated (when color manager was still in the 'GNOME extra' section,
I think). I noticed that these strings have not propagated to the
gnome 2-32 branch, which could lead to some extra work for some
translation teams if they don't msgmerge the translations to gnome
2-32 by themselves. This is just a heads-up to help people possibly
save time.

It refers to the thing that converts mains power into lowe voltage
through the power plug. Power cord isn't a widely used term in the UK,
but I guess that would do.

Regarding:

#. TRANSLATORS: system power cord

The comment indicates that this is a power cord, but the message says

Hi Richard,

In addition to the comments Bruce has made, I've got a few:

 * "If ICC profiles should be loaded from external disks." -> "Whether
ICC profiles"...

 * "If set to TRUE then external disks ... This may increase start-up
time if disks need to be spun-up to be searched." -> ..."may increase
startup time"..."need to be spun up to"...

 * "If the display should be globally corrected or left to
applications." -> "Whether the display"...

 * "The CMYK profile file name to be used by applications by default."
-> "The CMYK profile filename to be"...

 * "The RGB profile file name to be used by applications by default." ->
"The RGB profile filename to be"...

 * "The default gamma to use for monitors with no previous selection."
-> "The default gamma to use for monitors with no previous value set."

 * "Copyright (c)" -> "Copyright ©" (see Bruce's Unicode comments)

 * "The [description|copyright|model|manufacturer] for the profile"
-> ..."of the profile"

 * "Device ID, e.g. xrandr_ibm_france_ltn154p2_l05" could use quotation
marks around the example

 * The following two strings could do with translator comments, or might
be candidates for using stock strings instead?
   #: ../src/gcm-prefs.c:1476
   msgid "Yes"
   msgstr ""

   #: ../src/gcm-prefs.c:1478
   msgid "No"
   msgstr ""

 * "Color Management DBus Service" -> ..."D-Bus Service"

 * "File name:" -> "Filename:"

 * "Import a ICC file from another location" -> "Import an ICC file"...

Additionally, from looking at the screenshots[1] of g-c-m, it looks like
there are quite a few places where strings are in the wrong case. Window
and dialogue titles, button labels and section headings should all be in
Title Case.

Other than that, I can't see any problems. Nice one.

Regards,
Philip

Here's a grammar review, I don't know about ease of translation, as I
only translate to en_GB. Some of these suggestions may be wrong (it's
rather late) so feel free to ignore them.

Perhaps could be rephrased to something like "This colorimeter device is
not designed to profile projectors."

#: ../src/gcm-calibrate.c:705
msgid ""
"Ensure that the contrast and brightness is not changed and color
correction "
"profiles are not applied."

Should be "are not changed".
#. TRANSLATORS: message text
#: ../src/gcm-calibrate-manual.c:215
msgid ""
"This dialog will calibrate your display and create a custom ICC
profile. "
"Display calibration will involve several steps so that an accurate
profile "
"can be obtained. It should only take a few minutes."

Maybe should be something like "will help calibrate", because the
dialogue itself isn't doing the calibration.

#: ../data/gcm-prefs.ui.h:19
msgid ""
"Delete the disconnected device - if you reconnect the device it will "
"reappear in the list"

Besides this, there are a few places where "..." is used instead of "…",
see http://tecnocode.co.uk/2009/10/01/unicode-in-gnome/ for discussion
as to why the "proper" ellipsis should be used.

Hey,

I've attached the gnome-color-manager.pot file for current git master.
I would very much appreciate it if you language legends could take a
look at my attempts to make calibrating color easy, and suggest better
sentences if my words do not make sense. If there are any difficult to
translate sentences, or strings without context that need context then
please shout. Thanks!

Translations for gnome-color-manager

2009-11-24 Thread Richard Hughes
Hey,

I'm intending to release the first version of gnome-color-manager in a
little under two weeks time. I would appreciate it if you guys and
girls could update existing translations (or add new ones!) before
then to make the first release truly rocking. As always, if a string
is hard to translate (or just has bad grammar) either check in a fix
yourself or email me details and I'll fix it right up.

Thanks,

Richard.

The new GTKBuilder format allows for separation of text and markup. From
a translator point of view, it's better to only translate the text. This
is one less source of error.
Of course this is not always possible, for example when the markup
doesn't include the whole string, like in "Note: Some note".

Well, the hardware device is a "colorimeter device" similar to
http://www.pantone.com/pages/products/product.aspx?pid=79 which you
stick on the LCD or CRT screen with little suckers. You only need to
profile the center of the screen, and so you know where to position
it, a grey square appears which you put the device inside.

GNOME Color Manager

2009-11-02 Thread Richard Hughes
Hey,

A few of us have started a new project called gnome-color-manager.
It's in gnome git, and it's nearly ready for its first release, but I
really wanted somebody to review the strings to make sure they make
sense and that they are easily translatable. My English grammar is not
good, and so review at this stage (before I ask for translations) is
probably a good idea.

So, if you have a few spare minutes, could you please checkout
gnome-color-manager and review the strings. If you spot a trivial
spelling or grammar error, or just want to add a translator comment,
please just commit to git master without even asking (I trust you!).
If you want clarification what a string means, or the context is
unclear, please email me and i'll add some additional translator
markup.

Thanks,

Richard.
