The consensus was to display English doumentation when a translation is not available; library.gnome.org now does it like that. It also adds a sentence explaining the situation, and offering a link to other translations: There is no translation of this documentation for your language; the documentation in its original language is displayed instead. Although I admit the Dutch team has been a bit lazy with regards to documentation translations, I can say a majority of Dutch users are completely used to documentation in the English language (not just for computer programs but for everyday things as well). Debian has a iso-codes package, fron which you can get localized language/country/currency names.
