The problem for the i18n people are string additions, not removals. If
what you are seeking is i18n-team approval, I don't think you need it. I
think, though, you might need release-team approval.

String removals don't count as string freeze break, as explainde on:

 http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/HandlingStringFreezes
