While I know that the ISO 639 registration authority[1] isn't always
right, we've been rather strict in the past about using the
registration authority's English spelling of languages. So I think the
right course of action is for you to first get in contact with the
registration authority regarding the spelling in this case, and ask
for the spelling to be changed, or alternatively, ask for the
alternative spelling to be added in addition to the other one.

Other language groups have done this in the past and succeeded, so it
shouldn't be impossible. When the registration authority has issued an
update with the other spelling, then please let us know so that we can
change the GNOME listings.

Thanks,
Christian

Hi Christian,

Thank you for adding the entry. I would like to point out that we need
to change the English language name for the language as "Dhivehi" as its
spelled as Dhivehi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dhivehi)

Thanks

Ok, thanks for clarifying!

Support for Divehi [dv] is most welcome in GNOME. I've added Sofwatullah's
name and e-mail address to the teams page at

 http://developer.gnome.org/projects/gtp/teams.html

now. I have also added a Divehi [dv] component at
http://bugzilla.gnome.org/describecomponents.cgi?product=l10n

Please verify that both these listings are correct.

I used the "Divehi" spelling of the English language name, as that is
what the ISO 639 registration authority seems to be using
(http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/langcodes.html).

Please ask around on this mailing list or at the IRC channel #i18n on
irc.gnome.org if you need help getting started. An introduction to the
translation process can be found at

Ok, now we have a problem. As you can see on the referenced links[1],
a few days before you, Inash Zubair also requested to be the
coordinator of a new Divehi [dv] translation team in the GNOME
Translation Project.

We obviously cannot have two seperate teams nor two different
coordinators. Thus I'd like you two to discuss with each other and
agree on what to do, and then please let us know (on the gnome-i18n
mailing list) the details of the Divehi team to be started, and who
should be the coordinator for it. I'd like you to both confirm that
decision on the list.

In case you cannot agree on a common team and who should be the
coordinator for it, please let us know anyway, so that we can pick a
coordinator.

In any case, I'd like people volunteering to be coordinators to get an
account on http://bugzilla.gnome.org/ , so that we can have a dv
component be set up in Bugzilla like for the other teams[2].

Thanks,
Christian
