That's almost definitely a mistake. Thanks for spotting it. Please
file a bug about it, or if you are fixing it in your translation that
you are attaching to another bug, mention that in the bug's details.

2008-04-19 Thread Mohammad Foroughi
Hi roozbeh,

 I just started translating gnome-panel.

I translated it's first 1600 lines, but before completing it, wann know
your idea.

Please chek it for me and tell me:

  Is it acceptable for you?
  Should I continue?
Do you submit it to SVN for me?

 Here is its link: http://417.ir/gnome-panel.HEAD.fa.po

Also There is a little question:

 The page
at:
http://live.gnome.org/TranslationProject/LocalisationGuide#head-74c781537477caa1e5d82f2725a6104b16f1a144
says that we should not translate frases like \red\ in the text:

When translating key descriptions, be careful with sample key values,
which will be enclosed in double quotes. They should not be translated.
For example:

#: src/gnome-terminal.schemas.in.h:70
msgid
Default color of terminal background, as a color specification (can be
HTML-
style hex digits, or a color name such as \red\).
msgstr
Rhagosodiad lliw cefndir y terfynell, fel penodid lliw (gall fod mewn
hecs-
ddigidau fel yn HTML neu fel enw lliw megis \red\).

In the example, “red” is a sample key value, and must be copied
verbatim into the translation. Note that because the double quote
character is significant in .po files, it is escaped with the
backslash.

But I saw you where translating it, do you have any special purpose or
it is just a mistake?

I must translate these kind of messages?

Please ask Ubuntu or Debian people for that. I don't follow their processes.

Did you submit your mozilla tramslation of Mozilla
Foundation? If yes, how can I change my firefox's UI language?

Yes. Probably Behnam Esfahbod who worked on it for FarsiWeb can tell
you more about it. His email address is [EMAIL PROTECTED].

I think there is no need for it, but personally I love your Linux, it is
really beautiful. To tell you the truth, I wanna make ubuntu and debian
look like Sharif Linux? Is it possible?

With thousands of hours of effort, why not? ;-)

FarsiWeb had an excellent and very dedicated team of engineers,
translators, managers, and consultants for Sharif Linux 2, and it took
us quite a lot of time and money. But lots of that work is already
upstream, so you can save some time. Persian i18n and L10n is not an
easy task to do, but the result is worth it.

P.S. Just to satisfy my curious soal: Do you plan to distribute a new
   ver. of Sharif Linux?

Please ask FarsiWeb directly. I am not an employee anymore.

 Good luck,
 Roozbeh Pournader

oK,

It seems that you are somewhat, true. I asked mr. melk to send me your
persian glossary, so I can translate more efficiently. May one of you
(persian team members) send me it?

Which of you will review and submit my translation to SVN?

Please open different bugs for different issues. I will either review

Hi

Actually I need your po files and you glossary to be able to contribute
efficiently. I start using pugzila but it seems that there are too many
bugs in gnome and posting a bug for every of them seems not to be
reasonable.

Instead I want to have all current po files+glossary. May I have them?

To tell you the truth, I'll say you are completely true ONLY WHEN I
get all po files of Sharif Linux, abd be able to post all of them to SVN
(myself of through a team member).

I belive that your did valuable contributions in past.

Best Wishes

Hi Mohammad,

All the po files of the latest released Sharif Linux has been upstreamed to
GNOME two years ago. You can find them on GNOME version 2.10 on GNOME svn.

If you are not willing to submit one bug report for each bug but you want to
send a patch, you should use the latest PO files (not the ones from 2.10)
and submit them to one bug that describes them all.

Thank you for your interest in contributing to GNOME,

Elnaz

Dear roozbeh,

The glossary is in the CVS. Check the module named gnome-i18n. It's
in the directory named glossary.

I'll get it and start my work ASAP.

All the GNOME-related PO files of Sharif Linux 2 have *already* been
checked in to the GNOME subversion. I have done that personally, so
there is no need to post all of them to SVN.

If so, you are true. But there is just a little question of mine: I was
your Sharif Linux's Screenshots. It is REALLY excellent, mozilla nad
totem and all other thigs are completely translated. My question is: how
can I have a translated mozilla (or totem or other things) in my ubuntu,
or debian? Did you submit your mozilla tramslation of Mozilla
Foundation? If yes, how can I change my firefox's UI language?

Still, if you are interested in the Sharif Linux 2 source code (which
has the exact POs used in Sharif Linux 2 for it's GNOME 2.10), you can
get it from FarsiWeb. It is explained here:

I think there is no need for it, but personally I love your Linux, it is
really beautiful. To tell you the truth, I wanna make ubuntu and debian
look like Sharif Linux? Is it possible?

P.S. Just to satisfy my curious soal: Do you plan to distribute a new

Ubuntu does not have Persian translation package for firefox.

Totem translations are included in Gnome translations. See
