For the obvious reason that Google is also available in multiple languages,
so you can translate it to use google.de, for instance.

Sorry about that, I thought that string was already there, because we
used to use it in another context. Unfortunately, the string was removed
recently and I didn't notice:

-#: ../src/bookmarks/ephy-bookmarks.c:109
-#, c-format
-msgid "http://www.google.com/search?q=%s&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8";
-msgstr "http://www.google.com.br/search?q=%s&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8";

We should have translations for most languages already, and I can
cherry-pick them from git history into the .po files myself if desired.
There's no real loss if the translation is not there, too. Sounds good?

See you,

I have done the work I suggested, forward-porting the translations for
this string, where needed. I only worked on po files that were modified
after the string was no longer in the source (the other files should
have the string already).

Everyone who was at 100% is back there. Those who were at 99% because
the only missing translation was the session recovery one (this
translation had also been lost before, because of the feature flux, and
some translations got it back while I was working on the google thing)
are also at 100%: http://l10n.gnome.org/module/epiphany/

Hope that clears up my mistake regarding the string freeze. Let me know
if there's any problem.

Thanks,

This is a consequence of
  http://mail.gnome.org/archives/desktop-devel-list/2009-August/msg00117.html

Quoting:
Impact for translations: at most a new string for each modules, with
the application "brand" name (that could be left alone, for languages

Hi Gustavo,

Your recent commit in epiphany broke the string freeze. Please revert
and formally ask for a string freeze break.
Moreover, you should really add a translator comment for this string, as
it is not obvious for translators to discover the meaning of both %s
without looking in source code.

Ouch, sorry, I somehow missed the original email. This is basically
getting back the save as functionality - we did have this string before,
but with only one %s, which is why I missed it would be a break, again
=(.

I can do the same I did to the other string I brought back - and forward
port all translations, in addition to adding the comments this weekend,
does that sound OK?

While writing the comment I decided the string was bound to cause
confusion, and investigating the translations that had already been
made, it looks like it did confuse some translators =/.

So, here's what I did. I changed the string to '%s Files' because it was
the string we had before, so we could just reuse the translations which
already existed. I brought the po files for the languages which had
already translated the new string up to date with this change, using
older versions of the po files as reference, and brought string which
were in the .po files 'attic' back again to life.

That should ensure that the translations which were at 100% are still
there, and some which were missing the new string now have the old
translated string again =) I pushed the changes to both gnome-2-28, and
master, and I'll keep an eye at the stats.

Sorry again for the breakage, I believe this should do it.

See you,

The string was in a file not included in POTFILES.in. I just ask for

There have been following string additions to module 'epiphany.master':

+ "HTML File"
+ "HTML bookmarks database could not be opened: %s"
+ "HTML bookmarks database could not be parsed: %s"
+ "HTML bookmarks database could not be read."

Note that this doesn't directly indicate a string freeze break, but it
might be worth investigating.
