After it’s released (in two weeks, I’ve been informed) and GNOME modules start depending on it, we can start asking maintainers to move to a help/LINGUAS file. It will take a while, I’m afraid. Considering that the question about "Sorry, adding new translations for documentation is not yet supported" is very common, I think it would be nice to have a URL with the information ready for the user, like a troubleshooting section in the Wiki or a bug report with some information. Ideally, I think this documentation should have 1) symptom 2) explanation 3) workaround (which is to provide the URL in the gnome-i18n list for someone else to commit) How does it sound? Any idea if there is a good, complete information URL or a place in Wiki to add such info? I started the translation of the documentations to friulian. I could not commit the changes of gnome-photos. The error was: Sorry, adding new translations for documentation is not yet supported. Documentation Translations
I've just committed a change to gnome-doc-utils to keep it from automatically updating the po files for documenation every time you run make. This behavior pretty much just pissed people off, maintainers and translators alike, so I removed it. This means that po files may not be up-to-date with the documentation, and translators will have to call make to update them. From the directory above your translation's directory, just do make LANG/LANG.po And yes, I know it would be wonderful to be able to call an update script that doesn't require autogen and make and all that crap. But we don't have that script right now, so this is where we're at. -- Shaun ___ gnome-i18n mailing list gnome-i18n@gnome.org http://mail.gnome.org/mailman/listinfo/gnome-i18n
